MATCH PREVIEW

Tuesday night sees us travel to the capital to face Hibernian at Easter Road, kick-off 7.45pm

Dundee will be looking to bounce back from defeat to Ross County at the weekend against the Easter Road who are currently without a permanent boss after Jack Ross’ departure last week.

David Gray is currently in temporary charge and led them to a draw with St. Mirren at the weekend. It’s a big week for Hibs as after this match they face Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup Final on Sunday.

The teams met at the Kilmac Stadium earlier this season playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw. Dundee dominated the opening period and led through Jason Cummings but Hibs hit back and took the lead after goals from Martin Boyle and Ryan Porteous. Paul McGowan turned home with seven minutes remaining to ensure Dundee got a point.

Hibs are vulnerable. They sat their on their lead against St Mirren and conceded a late equaliser. They haven't won at home since September. It's imperative we don't play an open game that lets them score early and relax the crowd. Get in their faces and deny them space.

I expect us to score but we need our Jekyll and Hyde defence to perform for 90 minutes if we're going to get something.

Apparently Adam had been struggling with a niggle in the build up to the County game.

Rest him up and keep him for the Hearts game. Ideally this is where we have to manage the game time of these players. With injuries and our squad make up it's unlikely to happen.  I dread to think what team we will put out on Jan 2nd.

Don't see us getting anything if Adam is out injured to be honest. Can't really change the back 4 apart from putting McGhee in at CB but then we're so short in CM that we can't move him. The balance of this squad is absolutely dreadful. Struggling for half decent CM and CB but have two of our biggest earners warming the bench.

Can't see Adam making it and I think McGhee coming in will be the only change.

Personally I'd put McGhee at CH for Fontaine but that would mean dropping Gowser back and playing a striker where Gowser has been. A fit Griffiths would be more than capable of this but he's miles off it, and Cummings is a straight up #9 for me.

sh**e selection from a sh*t squad, but Marshall needs dropped and Fontaine needs binned.

Moving Kerr to left back is replacing bad with worse though and replacing Kerr at right back with Elliott is just asking for trouble. Moving McGhee to centre half when there's a very good chance Adam won't play would be madness.

No way round it, the defence as it was yesterday is the best we have available and I honestly don't think there's worse in the top half of the championship - possibly even the whole of the championship. Three of these guys wouldn't get a game for Morton, only Sweeney would walk into most championship sides, the other three would struggle to get a game for any championship side.

Reckon it'll be

                             Legzdins

        Kerr, Fontaine, Sweeney, Marshall

McCowan, Anderson, McGhee, McMullan

                            McGowan

                               Mullen

BTTS looking likely in this one. Just gotta hope we get a defensive performance like against St Johnstone, but Nisbet and Boyle will be much harder to deal with than E2 and Viv, (Who you may ask? Exactly.) and that Hibs are sufficiently distracted with the League Cup final next Sunday and the search for a new manager.

Voted for a draw because why not, 2-2 is in my head, but my head says Hibs win despite the inexperience of David Gray. A result is very possible though, especially if we keep our scoring up and don't waste chances.
