Hard Hit With Injuries

Recommended Posts

I think any team hit by long term injuries like we've had would struggle. Ashcroft has been our steadiest centre half and is missing for 3 months; Adam has missed 8 or 9 games; Sheridan out for the season; Mullen missed 2 months; jakubiak has missed 3 months; Byrne has missed 3 months.

I would say that McPake has made mistakes like not signing another centre half and left back and signing an out of shape Griffiths instead. You could argue that one or 2 others shouldn't have got new deals too.

However I think if we'd been lucky with injuries like some clubs then we'd be 6 or 7 points better off.

His January recruitment is crucial. Personally I'd try to move Panter, jakubiak and Griffiths on and bring in a centre half, a left back, a centre mid with pace and an old school centre forward. Also bring back Mulligan.

Your spin on the players out for a length is clear there is a however.

McPake signed a crock in Jakubiak he also signed Sheridan another crock he had options and he chose not us or any one else.

he made a huge call to go with Ashcroft & Contains again his callso

The other injuries are part and parcel of football life that's why you assemble a squad with young players on the fringe , again he sent away some young guns and expected his team to be strong enough.

the poor substitutions and team set ups are his, he has failed us and his employers but most of all Dundee Football Club to which I support always.

I kind of agree other than I don't think Sheridan was injury prone before us. Its also a manager's job to make allowances for injuries.

Not strengthening the defence and signing an unmotivated, overweight striker was an error in judgement no doubt.

However I think if we can strengthen the positions I mentioned and ditch the deadwood then with Byrne hopefully not far away and Mulligan coming back we can have a much stronger tail-end to the season.

The difficulty will be in getting the right players in.

The 2 season's before Jakubiak signed for us he has played 40+ games each year so no sign of being a crock.
