Reasons To Feel Good About Being a Dee In 2022

We're in the country's top division for a start while Dunfermline, another big club from the 1960s, are once again in a right mess.

I think most Dees would agree we've got our best first-team squad in the Premiership since 2015/16.

Charlie Adam is magnificent on his day, and having a superstar midfielder really sets us aside from our rivals.

We seem to be doing better at bringing through youngsters. Young Max has been a revelation.

Any other reasons for optimism?

In all honesty if it boils down to things like being in a better state than Dunfermline just kill me now.

Dunfermline have been in two major cup finals in the last 15 years unlike Dundee. They finished above us in 2001/02, 02/03 and 03/04 when we had guys like Nemsadze. They finished above us in 1962/63 and 1963/64 and 1964/65 when we had the likes of Cox so I've not sure we should be suicidal at the thought of the Pars being remotely close to us now.

Sorry mate, once again I'm admiring your blind optimism but I'm pretty sure most of us would aspire to more than being less of a basket case club than The Pars right at this point in time.

My main aspiration for Dundee FC right now is decent leadership, until we get that we're going nowhere IMO.

Currently optimistic about our academy as I’ve heard from a lot of varying sources how well its being run right now.

Baring that, well it’s a struggle really. I want to be positive I really do

I don't think "blind optimism" can ever be admired but I get your point.

I'm not saying we need to compare ourselves to the Pars. I just thought it was worth noting Dundee or United could have easily have ended up in their position.

Better leadership would be great.

At times last season we weren’t too far above where they are now mate. And as Prince mentioned, I take no pleasure at all in being above any other club, or being in a better “position”. For me it’s about what we are doing and how we are doing it that matters. And right now we are bumbling along both on and more worryingly off the park.

I do believe if we get it right in January then we have the quality in the squad to stay up but it’s a big if right now.

Yeah they were close to us last season mate, and they should be close to us. They're a fairly big club.

Motherwell and St Johnstone might be well-run these days and able to cling on to top-flight status but I'll always think of Dunfermline as one of the bigger clubs.

Is the Pars being 11th in the second tier and Dundee being 11th in the first tier a cause for celebration? Of course not. It's just a reminder of where Dundee (or United) could end up be if we (or they) totally lost our way.

while its good to bring young players through the system...i sometimes feel that the youth set up at clubs like ours is a waste of time...all the best get snapped up by bigger clubs and any gems we do find get prized away after 6 months of 1st team football.

The latter isn't a problem as long as we get a fair fee for them. Something we've largely not managed when compared with the puddle drinkers across the road.

We have to keep doing our best to bring through talent. Max is doing great in the first team.

There was a journalist who visited the club during the McCann era and he said our squad was a bunch of cliques speaking different languages.

If we're going to be successful I think need a nucleus of English-speaking players to run the dressing room and from that we integrate foreign players and youngsters. If the youngsters have an understanding and appreciation of DFC that's a bonus.
