In my opinion the TCK end should have been demolished/rebuilt about 30-40 years prior to it happening. DFC benefitted from regular huge crowds from the post war years through to the mid 70s yet the only major ground improvements in that time were the enclosures built on the Dens and Provost Road sides of the stadium and even these were flawed in that they never covered the whole length of the respective terraces (I know the height of the terracing was not the same all along but this could have been resolved with modest investment).

Unfortunately our fans were taken for granted throughout these boom years and unfortunately nothing has really changed in the 40+ years since.

I know I'm taking this quote a bit out of context Billy. And it does appear very much true.

But of course for many of the, then young/old fans in those early years, had little choice.

These days (in normal circumstances) DFC fan/supporters can find alternative choices.

Maybe in doing so, find better value for money, more comfort, & a bit more appreciation.

That's very true Gedee, there were less alternatives back then however I still believe success on the park would result in greater numbers returning to Dens.

Going back to the original point of the post DFC treated fans quite shabbily at times. After segregation was made compulsary, along with the decimation of the Stand Enclosure by the ill fated greyhound track, I used to feel heart sorry for opposing fans who had to endure 90 minutes on that open terrace often in dreadful weather. It would not have cost the club a fortune to have redeveloped that end of the ground in say the 60s to provide cover for supporters.

The long-time physio Eric Ferguson got me a ticket for a game (he knew my grandparents). I was about 9 or 10 at the time. It was the first time I walked through the front door. It felt surreal. Until that day I only knew the Derry and Provvy. I was supposed to sit in the main stand but said I wanted to be in the Derry so I was told to walk past the away fans. The TC Keays end was rammed and boisterous. It was a bit intimidating to be there with my Dundee scarf and tracksuit top sheepishly shuffling towards the home end.

I was a bit gutted when it was knocked down. I miss seeing that uncovered terracing filled with away fans.
