Dundee's Alex Harris Insists Players Remain Fully Focused

Dundee’s Alex Harris insists no one at Dens has “downed tools†after securing a place in the top six and instead the players remain fully focused on finishing the season on a high.

The Dark Blues slumped to a disappointing defeat at home to St Johnstone last Saturday with manager Paul Hartley describing his side’s performance as “the worst of the season so farâ€.

Now, with Dundee facing a trip to the home of champions-elect Celtic tonight, Harris has stressed the players will be trying to put things right and prove they are not already on their holidays.

He said: “We weren’t at the races against St Johnstone at all. It was like that for the whole game. Saints were good value for their win. We were maybe a bit complacent having secured our place in the top six – not necessarily on holiday. But the boys were maybe relaxed because it was a great achievement getting into the top six.

“So last week was a bit of a wake-up call and now we need to lift our game. We’ve got to make sure we give 100 per cent in the next few matches.â€

He added: “The fans should know we haven’t downed tools. They would see that in training every day. Everyone is still trying their best. Nobody is relaxing or thinking about next season or anything like that.

“We’re all focused on the job in hand. It’s a good thing that it is Celtic next up. The manager won’t need to get us up for it.â€
