Raith Rovers Backlash Over Signing Badwillie.

The backlash that Raith Rover board are getting over the signing of David Goodwillie is overwhelming and totally understandable.

Many sponsors and fans have stated they will no longer return to the club (even if they rip up his contract), many are returning their season tickets.

Val McDermid who has a stand named after her has said she will no longer support the club. She even let it be clear weeks before he signed what would happened, but they still signed him anyway.

Tyler Rattray, the Raith Rovers Women FC captain resigned today over this as well. Tyler Rattray took to Twitter on Tuesday morning amid mounting fan fury to end her 10-year association with the Stark’s Park side’s women’s team.

I think Raith have done a lot of damage to their fan base over this signing.

No. I mean signing a footballer (who was playing football anyway) who allegedly raped someone.

Read the Raith twitter thread this morning, nearly 100% absolute condemnation over the signing. It’s staggering that they signed him after, will be interesting to see their next crowd, but they really have damaged themselves massively.

Mate, fact is no self respecting football fan should accept the signing of this guy for their club IMO.

It's very short sighted of Raith Rovers to do this when their main sponsor is a female who said beforehand that her support would be withdrawn if he did sign. She has my respect for doing so as do the SLO and ladies' team captain.

I won't put in type what I think of him and his type.

It's not grandstanding for me. I see it as a valid protest, at the protester's own cost, against the disdain the club is showing for its fans with this signing.
