DFC. The Most Drawn Out Suicide in Sporting History.

Recommended Posts

I've been on this earth 63 years.. for the first 17 years of my life..and for many years before I was in existence, DFC were a fixture in the top division of Scottish football. Often ending up near the top of the league.. Participating in Euro Competitions and appearing in the traditional close cup semi final defeat at the hands of Celtic. I'd argue that two happenings have led to us being the yo yo club of Scottish football over the last 46 or so years... 1. When John Prentice resigned, letting Jim McClean cross the road. 2. Then came the first season of the new ten team Premier League in 1975/76. firstly the fact that the bottom two got relegated. Secondly, the stitch up where Utd ended up playing a Rangers team who's season was over and blatantly couldn't give a f**k.. Allowing Utd to end up on the same points but having better goal difference (or average. I forget which) relegating us in 9th position.. Since then, we've had our ups.. but, for every good result etc..theres been a myriad of shyte. Shyte owners, chancers, con artists and just the totally inept..shyte managers, shyte players.. Nearly 50 years of one f**k up following another. Every time we take a step forward you can be sure there are two reverse steps waiting to happen. I don't know what we all did in a past life.. but, it can't have been nice.. relegations, skint club, two administrations.. and here we are. The worst team in the league renting the worst ground in the league..when you look at the past, almost, fifty years... It's been a death of a thousand cuts. we've slowly lost fans, potential fans and kids who have better options..All in all ,we're lucky to have a fan base of around 4.5k folk. Who knew there were so many masochists on Tayside?

Ok, without the yanks the club may be no more. they've backed the managers. The mistake, being the managers they have appointed. Nelms needs to put on his big boy trousers and remove McPake. Thanks for everything, here's a severance cheque, goodbye. Then, after getting McPake out. Nelms needs to ask people who actually know someone about the game to advise him on who to get in. Jack Ross being the obvious candidate...Otherwise, we're going to end up the equal of Falkirk.. Down the divisions and, remembered as having a glorious past..but, now just making up the numbers. Slowly playing our way to oblivion.
