MATCH PREVIEW

Mark McGhee has had to wait for his first home match in charge after the midweek call off but he will get the chance this weekend as we take on Livingston at the Kilmac Stadium on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

The teams have met twice before this season. Despite being in control of the match last time out in the City of Discovery, Dundee couldn’t find a way past a resolute Livingston defence and had to settle with a point.

In January however, Livingston took all three points from the match at the Tony Macaroni Stadium with a 2-0 victory.

The new management team have now had just over a week in charge and Max Anderson told the press in the build-up to this weekend’s match that it’s been a positive start.

The midfielder said, “It’s been really positive, I think the players have all taken in what the Gaffer is trying to say. We just have to show it on the pitch now.”

Hibs have an initiative with their upcoming game with sainties called "Football  for a Fiver". Aiming for a full house home and away. Good to see someone trying something different. We would never dream of doing that.

Because the fans would never get behind it.

Why do you think that.

Because weve had two games this season where we've essentially given out 3500 free tickets with the bring a friend scheme. Barely made a difference to the attendance.

Dundee fans are a joke when it comes to this thing.

Frank a lot of people don’t want to go to the of games whether they can bring a mate for free or not due to the atmosphere/ “policing” / timing to suit tv etc. A fiver a ticket for the vital games coming up I think would see an increased turnout. Don’t forget we are only a few days down the road from some people saying they aren’t going back/ chucking season tix/ cancelling Dee tv/ cancelling foundation payments.

I remember a good few years ago we did £5 for everyone against Partick and the crowd was over 7k from memory. I think this was the Deefiant season which was obviously a bit different than most seasons but the reduced price definitely had a noticeable impact on the crowd. The 'bring a friend' thing is never that well publicised I don't think, and historically fans won't turn up for Old Firm games. Worth putting together some 2 or 3 game packages for the remainder of the season IMO. We need the backing.

Games against the bigot brothers?

I would never take anyone along to listen to their bile, racism and bigotry then have to dodge their Buckfast bottles and rivers of pish on the way home. FFS a good number of season ticket holders won't go to those games so how the hell are they going to 'bring a friend'?

The team needs extra support from the stands against teams like Ross County, St Mirren, St Johnstone, Livingston, filth not them.

Edit - can see why the board would do what they did but it's just a very poor attempt at a 'bonus' IMO

Weren't the bring a friend tickets for the old firm games only though?

Nelms should be doing everything that’s possible to get fans into Dens for the next 2 games , if that means bring a friend for free or a fiver to get in for non season tic holders then he should be getting his finger out his a**e pronto and getting it done…but I wouldn’t hold my breath
