Has Gordon Strachan Been a Disaster for Dundee FC ?

I’m seriously beginning to think he has. And his latest piece of advice to John Nelms is the cherry on the top.

I feel sorry for Nelms slightly.. he has met Strachan and been blown away by his bulls**t. Naively he has listened to his advice so trustingly and acted on it. 
This role that he does at Dundee.. have we saw any benefits ? 
If I was JN I would tell him and McGhee to GTF

What qualifications does he have to oversee youth development? He only became interested in this after he was effectively banned from doing media stuff after conflating sexual offences to racism.

He should never have been appointed by the club, and his decision to appoint his wee pal is shocking, get him tae fvck ASAP.

WGS is a f**cking idiot and has been for a good few years but it appears that some folk are only starting to notice.  Yet another case of 'he was a decent player for us in 19 something so lets give him a role at the club'.  Ex Scotland manager I know but these days the lift doesn't go all the way to the top.

Having him in here seems to fit in with my opinion. Our set up is so unprofessional and behind clubs, even smaller than us, at this level. We sign poor players from a small pool whilst othe clubs find diamonds.

Yes, not committed to Dundee, not responsible for anything, but seems to have a big say so. He does not seem to have any contacts that he is prepared to share.

Having said that, his Managerial recommendations to JN have been found wanting.

I think the problem is we try to be something different from the formula that works for Motherwells Livi, St Middens and fail.  We need to adopt the playbook that works for them and survive.

I always think Strachan likes to be a bit different in his approach to things and thinks he knows it all. I would suggest he probably had to conform to a certain extent to a more ‘standard approach’ when in management or wouldn’t have lasted long. Now he is relatively free to take his own approach, I worry it may be very unorthodox and not right for the club. His rambling towards end of his time as national boss about the need for height and a certain  physique is certainly not a good approach to youth development in my mind and is why this country is still trailing behind even smaller nations who focus on technique.
