The sad thing is, if he said all the right things and wanted back to Dens a lot of us would have him back and leading the line in the Championship next season

He's still a huge talent. That blockbuster goal at Pittodrie proves it.

The problem is he's no longer a pro footballer in terms of application. I don't think he is mentally or physically able to play 90 minutes for any league club now. Stephen Hughes went the same way.

Bob Malcolm was a waste of space by the time he arrived at Dens

Yeah he was rubbish for us.

Won 4 trophies with Rangers and had nothing to offer Dundee in the second tier at 29. You wonder how that can happen.

Ronaldo has scored 18 goals this season in the world's strongest league at 37. Arguably Scotland's greatest player Jimmy Johnstone was hopeless at Dundee aged 33. I think that highlights how desire and willingness to take care of yourself is crucial when you get to a certain age.

Arthur Albiston won two FA Cups but his time at Dundee was not memorable.

Any others?

Spoke to the man who signed him at the weekend about him. Definitely my most disappointing signing after expecting so much. Albiston's career was glittering but he fell off a cliff after signing on here. Nearly 400 games for Man Utd, almost 50 for West Brom and a world cup appearance promised lots but delivered little.

There's nothing better than first-hand evidence Rev and that's why I love Dees sharing stories like this.
