Charlie Adam - 'I Only Want to Play for Dundee'

Charlie Adam in The Courier saying he wants to stay on with us next season and doesn't want to play for anyone else. Goes on to say that if a new manager or the board don't want him then he'll accept it and retire.

He's definitely worth another season. 

We just can't be building the whole team around him.

I would say I hope he stays..but, saw pic of him at full time on Saturday.. he's not fit..had a belly.. and many will say he's knocking on a bit.. Knocking on a bit in athlete terms.. otherwise he's still a young man.. If he still wants to stay as a professional player.. needs to get fit, lose the weight.. and respect the people paying him and the fans who watch him.. methinks he got a bit complacent regarding fitness v ability in the SPFL..

His deliveries are at times world class. Aberdeen, Hearts and Killie spring to me.

I remember walking out of Dens after 60 minutes about 15 years ago because we were so shit it was obvious we couldn't create a chance, never mind score.

So, yeah, I want Charlie to stick around.

Personally feel it's the kind of decision that can/will be worked out (decided) between himself & New (assuming) DFC Manager. I do think he has plenty yet to offer us still and would be a huge asset for us in the Championship.

He has nothing to prove in his career to date & he has still got the class. But come on Charlie...

If only for your own pride & well being, shed off those few extra pounds & get get yourself fit

Supersub then, just as long as it's not us (DFC) paying his £3.5k wages. Good option to have for 40 or so minutes.

Agree. As a Championship squad option and someone who we don't expect to be in the starting 11 and taking the same level of resource as a squad player then I'd be fairly happy. If the U20s league comes back, maybe that could be a great opportunity for some guys stepping up to learn on the pitch with him.

If it's going into next season depending on him, we're going to struggle.

Definitely still a place in the squad for him, although we can't build the team around him like others have said. If he is happy to accept a wage which reflects his position within the squad then there is no issue for me.

I’m not sure a few good passes and crosses is enough of a contribution in a game, his pace has deserted him and won’t come back. He could possibly have another season in him if we can find good young fit players to put in around him. If it’s Gowser , Byrne and McGinn, then it’s a no from me.
