I think this confirms McGhee for next season.

Don't think Strachan is the type of character that cares about fans reaction.

Article says 'it's understood that Rusk and McGhee will be leaving the club' but also goes on to say that it's 'now unlikely that Jack Ross will be signing up'.

It's going to be Gavin Strachan I think. Nepotism at its finest.

Come on, Strachan is a respected figure, who was lauded by all and sundry when he came in. Scotland and Celtic manager, never mind his paying career.

Maybe his hands have been tied until now. All for it.

Not so sure about McGhee. Gavin unkown quantity.

Strachan hasn't had any official role overseeing the first team for the last couple of seasons. Every statement he's made, he's pretty much said the youth side of things is where his heart lies and focus of his (part time) efforts at Dundee whilst McPake suggested he was pretty distant (rejecting his advances for more hands on work) and just really a sounding board on the phone.

Personally, I think the stuff about him installing McPake is complete nonsense, he didn't have his advisor position until like a month after that and by all accounts, Goodwin walked away from us. McGhee is a close friend and it seems this season, odds are that McGhee has come in through this network.

If he is actually taking a role where he's full time at Dens and formally taking on a lot of Nelms' responsibilities and reporting to Keyes on the same level, that is a big change. I'd want to the new manager reporting to Strachan rather than Nelms.

If it's a case of this just being smoke & mirrors to try and sell some daft appointment and not actually advance on data-driven recruitment people and bring in the career pros we need to run the place off the pitch, then I'm fearful.

It says Rusk is likely to be leaving.

Exactly. I remember the clamour to get him in, then the excitement when he came. We have short memories and short fuses at times.
