Why does he never get quoted when the job comes available, worked wonders last time during Deefiant season, didn’t have anytime to prepare when the Rangers got thrown out the Premier, he knows the club inside out, I’d think he was worth a shout

I love Barry Smith but since he left us he's been a serial failure in management from being, 'Alloa's poorest manager since Hartley' to 'playing the worst football we've ever seen' at Aldershot to failing to get Raith promoted from League One despite having the largest budget and being one of two full time teams in the league to finally, continuing Brechin's slide out of the SPFL structure.

What is the obsession with ex players/managers like Smith/Murray. We need to get away from this attitude. 

Smith is not considered because like Murray he is not good enough.

It’s not an obsession, I think Smith did well with us and got a raw deal, Murray when he played gave the kind of effort that has been missing with most this season, I also don’t get folks obsession with Ross, ex Dee that has failed at his last to clubs

Could argue Smith has done a lot worse than Ross. At smaller clubs

We’ll never know what restraints they worked under, that’s football, I just think he did a good job first time, all entitled to opinion

Kind of feel the same.

He would be our best appointment on paper since Hartley, but that's not exactly difficult when your last 4 managers have been a Sky Sports pundit, a DAB without his sidekick, a youth coach and a manager most other clubs wouldn't touch in 2022.

Re Ross. Yeah, every day for months and also on and off for years on here, he has been mentioned like some sort of messiah figure who would guarantee our return to successful top flight football. No pressure Jack.

Don't think he'd go near us anyway. Won't stop people mentioning him every day

Murray is horse. The reason he gives that kind of effort is because he offers fuck all else. He is a headless chicken and absolutely not the route we should be going down. 

Smith has pretty much failed in every job he had since he left Dundee and not a chance should he be anywhere near consideration. Smith is far more than of a failure than Jack Ross (I say that as someone who doesn't have an obsession with Jack Ross).

Possibly not my choice of manager but definitely have him at the club,the same we rab douglas.The sooner we get people in who love the club the better.

We need a proper no 1 imo though.

My take on Barry Smith as our manager is yes the team did great when he was manager but I don’t think that was solely down to him as manager, it was the combination of all the team, staff and fans coming together for being unjustly having a 25 points deduction.

The manager, players, fans and all connected with the team we were all one big family and we all fought and worked together on and off the park.

Why do we need people that love the club?  Also often see people say the know the club. 

I would much rather get competent people in who will have as run properly and professionally.

Hi freend... It may no be me ye're referring to (But I'd be quite a big bit disappointed it it wisnae)

 I do think JR would be a "class act" (No a messiah) I've put his name forward at every opportunity.

Mainly TBH to maybe make sure that JN will consider, heightening the selection-bar, when it comes

to making his final choice...And we dinnae land wi some "cheaper numpty option" as we;ve done in

the past (Anither couple o things)...I've also said, my own past choices of managers have proved to

be pretty terrible. And secondly, I also empphasised, that (imo) even spending the big money on the

Top Manager, is no guarantee of success. Finally re Barry Smith? Well who really knows for sure
