From a Managers Perspective

Recommended Posts

What does everyone think a good manager would find exciting about joining us?

Imagine the likes of Maloney checking out a potential new clubs fans by reading here....

We're a badly run scottish championship club in a decrepit stadium,  with a nightmare CEO and a limited budget.

We've got a wee bit of potential as other Scottish clubs bad too but any interest from an English club all the way down to the middle of the conference has at least as much potential as an employer.

I don't think Maloney will come, he'll get a better offer elsewhere and we'll be back to square one.
If he does join he will need our support from day one. That's all we've got as a club.

How would you sell us to a manager of note?

Nelms would sell it as:

Exciting group of home grown players complemented by some experience

Growing Academy reputation with promising group under Stephen Wright

Structure of young teams from around under 13 and upwards, one recently beat both Manchester clubs in a tourney

Expertise of Strachan to support you

Cracking new stadium and training facilities planned for 2024

Generous budget for players and full backing from the board

I would do the same if I was him but how much of the above is fact or fiction?

We're not going to attract a manager of note.

We're a stepping stone club, be it a stepping stone for young managers to prove themselves at our level before moving up or an older manager taking a step closer to his pension, the reality is that is what we are and that is the caliber of manger we'll attract.

We have somehow attracted someone with the footballing pedigree of Shaun Maloney and half of the fans don't want him based on his few months at Hibs and the fact that he's not Jack Ross who has given us the runaround again but is still seen as the good guy.

This is about how I see it Harold. We always hope to unearth a gem at the start of their playing career but as fans we don't want to do that with a manager.

I wish  the shite had rejected baldy as an untried manager back in the day.

The reality is probably somewhere in the middle - not sure closer to which though.  Hopefully BCG's!

I'm astonished we still pump out the stadium story to anyone sane.

I must admit Billy's training facility quote made me laugh though!

Mate, the fact they're interested in becoming our next manager already confirms they're not sane!

When was the last Dundee manager to leave for a bigger club? Duffy to Hibs in the 90's?

But I agree with what you are saying.

Kilmarnock appointed McInness. I’d say that’s a very good astute appointment, of a manager of note.

Why can’t we get someone with a track record, a positive managerial appointment just for once.

Kilmarnock also appointed Tommy Wright who had a track record at St Johnstone and was touted for various jobs such as Rangers and Northern Ireland, but we enjoyed the nights that the rookie manager McPake lead us to the victories that relegated them.

They got it right in the end, we haven't in 4 now looking like 5 appointments.
