Feel free to use this topic to discuss the other teams which we will face in the championship.

Will start with this!

I will remain silent, as it is well known how I feel about this chap.

I feel sorry for Cove Rangers.

Cove, Raith, Queens Park and Dundee have new managers. This is one of the factors that makes this years championship hard to predict. IMO Inverness will be our toughest rival, they have have had less changes and Dodds has done a decent job on a limited budget. Queens Park who knows how they will perform, it will be interesting to see who Coyle brings in. I expect Partick, Ayr, Arbroath to be mid table to play-offs. Hamilton and Morton will struggle, but are capable of beating us unless we perform.

At least Vontae Daley-Campbell won’t be coming back signed for Cardiff city

I know it wouldn't happen but I'd genuinely be quite positive if we got him on a proper year-long loan and in for pre-season, sure Cardiff will probably send him out again.

Think taking a boy on 31st Jan to play top flight football, when they've had pretty much no experience of senior football in their career (apart from some cup ties as part of a vastly better resourced side who are basically treating it as an u23 competition), and throwing into a starting 11 in a defensive position where we've had a bit of a struggle is destined to fail.

He was technically very good and when he gets a chance to settle, I think he can be a great player once he reads the speed of the senior game better and gets the timing right. In the Championship where we're expected to be on the front foot and we can spend a bit more time bonding, I think the environment is far better for a player like that.

IMO problem with loans is a lot of them are just too short-sighted and done in a panic. Had plenty of players watching Dundee who have had a shaky start who come good but with a loan, it's often just the case that if they have any weakness that becomes apparent in 2 or 3 games, that's them done.

I think Dundee will start favourites.  They are with the bookies at any rate.  Hopefully, the Championship will be a step too far for Cove Rangers and Queen's Park.  I was a bit miffed when they both scooshed the Second Division by miles, due to their vast budgets when compared to the other sides in the division.  Kelty Hearts did the same last season.  At least Bonnyrigg Rose appear to have a modest budget in comparison which will give the other sides a chance.

For what it's worth, I can give a report on both Cove Rangers and Queen's Park based on how they performed against Elgin in recent seasons, albeit they have both strengthened since then and are under new management.  However, the new managers will need to play to their strengths, which may give an indication as to how they will play.

In their Div 2 title winning seasons, both sides liked to keep possession, keep the ball on the ground and pass their way through the opposition.  Both sides also had very good strikers who had the ability to take their chances when they came along.  A bit like Dundee under Hartley when we had both Hemmings and Stewart.  Their weakness was in defence and they both struggled against pace.  They lost to Elgin who are very quick on the break when they are on their game (Cove lost 3-0 and Queen's Park lost 3-2).  Elgin's Hester and Sopel are both very fast off the mark and, in those particular games, neither side could cope with them.  McMullan could therefore be a key player against them.

Of course the new managers may decide to change their style of play but that would benefit the other sides as the players may take time to adjust.  You could say the same thing about Dundee of course but then we aren't going up to a higher division.
