What's a trail?

Who are Bradfold?

Some will see this as nit picking, but surely it's not too much to ask that news releases are proof read?

Would do it myself but I'm cleaning some bird shit off benches in the next wee while:)

They must have heard you!

Looks like our charity shop recruitment is well and truly underway.

I'd usually agree with you but we will not be an attractive option for players who might have a few other offers.

We signed a marquee signing in Griffiths and he was an utter disgrace to the Dundee shirt.

People on here were crying because we hadn't signed anyone, despite Bowyer only being in the door 2 seconds and now everyone is underwhelmed at the thought of this guy as he looks shite on paper.

I expect shite signings as we're in the championship again..... so should others.

Agree with you mate. Although the “shite signings” part is obviously quite subjective. 2 seasons ago we signed mcmullan (mid season loan I know) Adam, Cummings whilst in the championship. I know it was debatable the impact of Cummings but Adam and mcmullan pretty much dragged us out of the league.

Im pretty excited to see Bowyers contacts down south bring us some new players out with the old merry go round of Scottish guys. Patience is the key

The lad Devine is only here on trial. For now. Don't think any of us should be rushing to conclusions regarding his suitability to join the club. Few, if any, of us have seen him in action. Hope he impresses.

Nathan Ralph joined us from Woking a few seasons ago, I think the consensus then was Nathan who? Nathan gave us good value and won our player of the year award.

What we don't want to be doing is continuing our tradition of being a rehab club for players who have lost their way, their hunger, ambition, etc. Guys on the way down.

As @J_Kitamirike states above, we have to be realistic about who we can sign for the league we are in. Our budget will dictate what we can and can't do.

I think the scary thing with this one is that he broke through at a fairly late age and in his last three years of football, he's often been unfit and failed to make an appearance in 70.6% of league matches.

He's maybe a good player and can put this behind him but injuries that bad and very little football before 25 is a very negative sign and I'd hope that we would be doing as much diligence as we can and protecting ourselves from it.

Not at all critical for us taking a look though, if he's a good player and working through his issue, maybe a shorter term deal could get him back on track. Nicky Riley joined us on a 6 month deal after leaving Hamilton at 24 with no senior appearances and around 3 years injured.

After that shit show of a season we just endured, I can understand some people wondering why a player, of a reasonable pedigree, would want to sign for us.. Well, I'm of the opinion that, with the right scouting etc.. DFC should be able to get in one or two that improve the squad.. God knows we've been in this division quite a few times and managed to attract a few decent players. Some from lower leagues and players who maybe want to prove themselves.. I hope the new manager has a few decent contacts and manages to get a couple in.. looking light upfront at the moment and a creative central mid is required as well.. the plusses for DFC in the season before us as regards recruitment are, we should be favs to go up..which gives the prospect of top division football in a years time for an ambitious player.. also, there's every chance of a lot of game time for up and coming players rather than less game time and more sitting on the bench if they sign for a premier club... talking of inhabitants of the bench, is there any news of whether Chapman will be coming back? If he does and he remains in the seated position, I would guess that having three managers in a row who didn't give him game time. May be the hint that he should try his luck elsewhere..

Let's assume that Bowyer views McGhee as a CH. Don't think that's particularly unreasonable considering the player himself views that as his best position.

That means we are left with Max Anderson, Josh Mulligan, Paul McGowan & Shaun Byrne as our CM options.

McGowan, whilst I still think is an important player, should only be expected to play just off the striker rather than as a full blown CM at his age. I certainly don't think he's suitable in a 2 man midfield.

So we're left with 2 very raw, young midfield players and a decent CDM. A cheap signing from down South isn't the worst idea - even if it's just to be back-up for Byrne.

We're just taking a look at the moment and I've read that this boy can play in a few positions as well which we'll need this season.

I've absolutely nothing against this one. Bowyer certainly won't be signing known quantities in England for this level but we've appointed him with an expectation that he can tap into his English contact book and this is just the first that he's casting his eye over.
