He is one referee who will spend a lot more time than others watching TV at the side of the pitch when VAR comes in.  That penalty award after Gardyne initiating contact up at Dingwall, then booking our player for diving for a blatant penalty kick moments later, still gives me the shudders.

It wasn't me he fell out with by the way.

Sorry guys, the world has gone mad, referees are abused beyond belief and all have a different threshold,  the minute one responds he is investigated. Sadly individuals out there who provoke just to create this type of situation.

ir you can’t take it, don’t dish it out, the response you get could make your toes curl.

Refs know the score when they take up the position of Ref.. They are trained to deal with situations.. obviously Beaton couldn’t cope. Maybe time for him to move on.

I work in a job where abuse is pretty common (no I'm not a traffic warden). Most of the time you can deal with it and unlike referees we can walk away if we feel it's getting too much or, as has happened at times, getting dangerous. I'd imagine ref's have to be pretty thick skinned but there will be days where their tolerance levels are lower for whatever reason and they bite. They're only human after all and have their limits like everyone else.

This is the guy who blew me a kiss when i constructively told him his head was up his backside!!!! Ive had a few run ins with Mr Beaton from my seat in The Derry over the past few years!😆

The fact he can play it both ways suggests his reaction to the trumpet who wound him up was a response to something to close to the bone.
