COVE RANGERS

Cove was formed in 1922 and played in the local amateur leagues until 1985, when they became a junior team. However, the club applied and were accepted to the senior Highland Football League in 1986, where they played until winning promotion to Scottish Football League division 2 in May 2019, after beating Berwick Rangers 7–0 on aggregate in the pyramid playoff.

BALMORAL STADIUM

Balmoral Stadium is located in Altens in the South of Aberdeen and is easily accessible from the North, South and via the Aberdeen Western Periphery Route (AWPR). There is a small car park at the stadium. Street parking is also available on the surrounding industrial estate. The all-weather pitch is the exact dimensions of Hampden Park, Scotland’s national stadium.

The last time we played at Cove (LC 2019) we were allocated 800 tickets which sold out quite quickly and our official website made a point of stating that "There will be no tickets on sale for Dundee fans at the stadium tonight."

I rocked up to the stadium anyway on the off-chance and thought I would just stand in the home end if necessary. When I arrived at the ticket booth in the wee social club, (two wifies sitting at a table with cash boxes and a shit-load of tickets), I asked if there were any away tickets left. The woman sold me a generic ground ticket and simply said turn right for the home end or left for the away end!

I remember thinking at the time how many Dundee fans might have been put off from going as we sold all our tickets and there was no way of getting in the away end without one (not true).

I know that Balmoral Stadium now has temporary seating behind both goals so the capacity limits will have changed but I'm still going to take the chance on attending the game without a pre-purchased ticket.

Incidentally, I noticed that we've said Cove don't have a safety certificate for their seating areas at the moment and yet there were fans sitting behind the goals for both their matches v Raith & Hamilton.

Will the Aberdeen Dark Blues be able to get tickets in Aberdeen without heading down to Dens? Asking for a Dee up in the Granite City.

Not sure yet, only thing we can hope for is that there is some sort of online sale.

Sounds like they haven’t had the planning permission for the stands behind the goals yet.

I did see that Hamilton were able to buy tickets online fit the game on Saturday.

Never used to be this difficult to get to a game!!
