Dundee’s Jim McAlister is attracting interest from a host of Premiership outfits, including Kilmarnock.

The Dark Blues midfield man is out of contract at Dens Park next week. And, as yet, the 29-year-old has not been offered new terms by boss Paul Hartley. As a result his availability has alerted a number of top flight sides, with Gary Locke believed to be casting a keen eye from Rugby Park.

McAlister, in his third year at the club, has been one of Dundee’s most consistent performers on their return to the top division. His energy from midfield has been one of the catalysts for the Dark Blues rise to a top-six finish. However, the manager is in the midst of a dressing-room clearout at the club, with no less than 13 bodies exiting this summer.

And, as things stand, McAlister — also interesting clubs at the top end of the second tier — is believed to be one of them.

The summer is seeing plenty of new arrivals at Dens with Daryll Meggatt, Nicky Low, Rory Loy and most recently Kane Hemmings already fixed up on pre-contracts.

They’ve now been joined by fullback Kevin Holt from Queen of the South. He’ll join up on a three-year deal on July 1.

Dundee are due the Doonhamers a fee for the 22-year-old. That’s still to be decided.

With Holt and Meggatt both left-sided defenders, it now looks certain Willie Dyer will playing his football elsewhere next term.

Goalkeeper Kyle Letheren is also expected to move on under freedom of contract.

For the manager getting plans in place for next season is now the big priority.

“We’ve brought five in and hope to bring more in to do our business early. It’s all about next year now for us, it’s preparation,†Paul went on.

He’s particularly excited about the prospect of Hemmings renewing his successful strike partnership with Greg Stewart from their days at Cowdenbeath. “Kane is a good signing. I think he and Greg showed a couple of years ago they were a formidable partnership in the Championship. We tried to get him last year but we missed out to Barnsley.â€

Striker Luka Tankulic is a doubt for Sunday’s derby at Tannadice.
