Massive January for Bowyer

Recommended Posts

Providing GB is still at Dens in January, this has got to be one of the biggest windows we’ve had to face in a long time. If we keep our league form then we are more likely to finish in bottom half than top half (let alone the title).
Our squad is bad from back to front, practically every position needs to be seriously addressed.
January is traditionally a difficult window, so can Bowyer get enough quality in to see us put in a title challenge or will January just be the first building block for our second season in the championship?

Very much doubt Bowyer can sort this mess out some of his decisions are baffling

I'm going to be honest and realistic and say that the problems at this club won't be fixed in January however good a window the manager might have.

He won't sign enough players of the right quality purely due to lack of adequate finances, player availability and being unable to convince our deadwood to move on.

Tactically January changes next to nothing. GB wants to play in a way that doesn't suit the Championship or our journeymen players. A high press and the lack of players available or comfortable enough to take a pass will outdo his tactics more often than not.

Negative but true, in my opinion obviously.

Yes January transfer window is going to be very interesting. Who given our form - unless it improves- will want to come to Dens ? If funding is not coming I expect Gary Bowyer to leave.

Not a great loss for me. While I admit he hasn't got the best of squads to  work with, the attitude hasn't changed  at all, some still look like they only turn up to make sure they get their pay check at the end of the month.

I'm also a tad pessimistic of these transfer windows going forward, especially this one in January.  Unless we are prepared to splash some cash, the window is generally full of players no one else really wants.  End up with quantity rather than quality.

I'm not even sure that splashing the cash will solve all of our problems. I'm sceptical but have nothing bar a personal opinion on our transfer dealings that by all, or a very high majority of accounts, is wide of the mark. It seems we're spending decent money on wages so something else is going on because dropping points to a lower standard of opposition is a regular occurrence and has been under a number of managers.
