McGhee and Grayson lol

Fucking stupid centre mid partnership. One is a decent centre half at this level but hasn't a clue how to play midfield and the other is a ghost. Meanwhile we have Byrne, Max, Mulligan and Gowser who are decent midfielders sitting on the bench! Wtf is Bowyer seeing?

In 90 minutes for the pair of them not to show for the ball once. Or get close to Linn, Jacobs or Tait is typical of them both. And absolutely fundamental to why the game like many others they feature in is just a succession of long aimless balls over their heads.

Mate, that was criminal today, how they both were not hooked at HT is beyond me.

Grayson was an embarrassment, the other is a CB.

McGhee is never a midfielder, not in a million years. Truth being told, he isn't actually very good anywhere, but if he does play, it has to be at CB, nowhere else.

We are in dire straights if this is all we have to offer.

McGhee looks totally lost in midfield. Always seems to be in the wrong place. Doesn’t pick up many second balls and doesn’t do much other than get there slightly too late. Really don’t see it in midfield. Get him at centre back.

Unfortunately Larry "shut that door" Grayson doesn't live up to his name. The door appears to be wide open when he plays.

In fairness to McGhee he is being played in a different position every week, LB, CH CM think he might have played RB aswell this season. Difficult for him to build confidence with that.

He’s p!ss in midfield, offers nothing but height.

If McGhee plays as double centre half with Ashcroft.Both are terrible passers but might be a decent centre half pairing.

McGhee, in my opinion, is the best CH at the club. He's decent in the air, he's got mobility and he's not exactly slow. He's not the best at anything but he's the second or third best at everything.

It's the reason he's not good enough at midfield but he's also underrated in defence. He's not as good in the air as Ashcroft or as fast as French, but he's better in the air than French and faster than Ashcroft so he needs to be put in his main position before he becomes a boo boy favourite.

I agree entirely and with Big G. McGhee was player of the year in his 1st year when played at CH/CB, for all the reasons you state. And well-deserved. McPake and Bowyer have created a notion that he can play in midfield and I think he believes he can too. Clearly though he hasn’t the touch or confidence to take the ball in the tight spaces of centre midfield and so rarely shows for the ball in the way a career midfielder does. So we are left with a completely passive centre midfield where the game passes him by and leaves us without the option of creating chances for the forwards through the middle of the park. A huge reason why we were so poor last season and this season through CM when he plays there. 
 

Getting on the end of 2 glorious Charlie Adam passes and getting us promoted will always be well thought of. But 2 more seasons of him aimlessly occupying such a key position has proven those to be 2 exceptions.
