Anyone gonna be interested in this? I take an interest because I have relations in Australia, and it's hosted there this year. People tend to take more of an interest in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The usual names Australia, Japan, South Korea and Iran will be spoken about but there could be a few surprises. Group B being execeptionally tight.

Group A

Australia

South Korea

Oman

Kuwait

Group B

Uzbekistan

Saudi Arabia

China PR

North Korea

Group C

Iran

United Arab Emirates

Qatar

Bahrain

Group D

Japan

Jordan

Iraq

Palestine

A few groups are tight bt I'd expect Australia, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar, Japan and either Jordan/Iraq to advance

Wish I could bring something to the conversation, but I find it hard keeping up with the first two leagues in Scotland, never mind the rest of the world. :)

Is one with the funny looking ba, or is this the round ain? ;)

The standard of AFC isn't as good as South America or Europe but I'd rank it similar to North America and Africa, although the supposed 'heavyweights' of Asia (Japan, S Korea, Australia) aren't as good as the heavyweights of those two (USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Ghana, Nigeria etc)

It'll be a good tournament though, you should take a look if you have time!

Gulf Cup of Nations Semi Finals are on tomorrow

Qatar - Oman

S. Arabia - UAE

All 4 sides are in the Asian Cup in Jan and will be looking to build up a run of wins. The tournament is in Saudi so they should be favourites.

Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq and Yemen were also in the Cup, only Yemen haven't qualified for the Asian Cup from those. Iraq however had a pretty poor tournament which could be worrying for them

North Korea have also been doing well, they have made the final stage pf the East Asian Cup alongside China, Japan and South Korea. Sweeping by the diddies like Hong Kong, Guam, Macau, Northern Mariana Islands, Chinese Taipei and Mongolia

Qatar have won the Gulf Cup (Arab). Looks like they are strong currently. The Southeast Asia cup is on the now with Phillipines looking early favourites IMO.

The East asian cup doesn't re-start until August 2015 though, with North & South Korea, China and Japan in the final round. No Australia in it this year, they are now Southeast asia although they aren't taking part in that competition. Guam, Macau. Northern Mariana Islands, Hong Kong, Mongolia and Chinese Taipei are already out
