The standard's never been that high but I really think it's actually getting worse. This season has seen more bad refereeing performances and atrocious decisions than I can remember in any other season. The challenge on Robinson early in the first half today was a straight red, studs up aiming to hurt the player but I don't even think the referee was going to book the clogger.

I thought he was abysmal. Some of his calls were terrible. Possibly worse than Willie Collum at his lowest.

Mainly against us, but I also thought Maguire might have seen red in the first half, his tackle looked very bad to me.

Said at the time of that McGuire tackle he was very lucky, didn't even get booked - just a twenty minute talking to. However it probably set the referee's tone for the rest of the game, complete incompetence with a total inability to read a football match.

Don't tend to get caught up in the pantomime of it all too much nowadays so I wouldn't say the referee was any worse than some of those that I'd saw in the past, he was sh*te but they pretty much all are. My biggest bugbear today was in how we reacted, particularly in the stands. We played a game that Morton wanted us to play and the catalyst for that was in how we reacted to time wasting and play acting. We're not Celtic or Rangers so the referee's unlikely to be too Influenced by our reactions. IMO we should've ignored them instead of getting all het up and concentrated our efforts on backing our players first and foremost. From as early as about the 30th minute the home stands were getting themselves worked up and it played into Morton's hands. Our energy transferred onto the field and we ended up playing them at their game rather than using home advantage and playing them at our game.

Who trains these guys?

Are they supposed to be professional?

Standard has been poor for years, but this season we seem to have been landed with a bunch of work experience esq diddys who have zero control over the game, turn a blind eye to loads and seem to guess half the calls they're forced in to.

Standard is absolutely appalling.

The problem for me is these refs don't have anybody to answer too no matter how bad there performances are. Refs are humans and will make mistakes and I totally understand that but that ref on Saturday was an absolute disgrace yet nothing will get done about his performance. You surely know you have no control in the match when you have to use your spray twice in the same free kick incident. The decision to give them a free kick for there second goal was a disgrace too.

Maybe it's my imagination but when you have a ridiculously poor referee and the crowd gets on his back it actually seems to make the clown worse. It's as if perversely the ref takes umbrage at the crowd questioning his standards, decisions or integrity and then goes out of his way to punish the crowd by being even more erratic in his decisions or downright biased against the team whose fans are giving him stick. On the other hand they are simply just useless barstewards.
