I'd never heard of him before he got appointed.. therefore, no pre conceptions, no prejudice.. OK, he fucked up a couple of times.. didn't know his best formation till late on.. but, he engaged, he wasn't miserable... and, it slowly dawned on me.. he wasn't the greatest.. but, was a competent manager.. he got us promoted with the majority of a squad signed by someone else.. ok, wasn't Pep or Klopp, but got us over the line.. he deserved the chance to build a side for the premier league.. and compete there.. who knows if it would have worked.. Call me old fashioned, but, let's go down that road again.. at least I'll be in. blissful ignorance until it goes tits up... Otherwise we will be appointing from the usual suspects.. a cornucopia of other team's cast offs and incompetents...

He was a competent manager who did pretty much what we needed him to and In a way that we were 'warned' about by fans' of other teams he'd managed.  I wasn't gutted when he left but might be in retrospect depending on who we bring in now.

Given how things worked our in the end, I wonder if Nelms would be willing to go down a similar track again.
