I can't believe that it has been five years already since winning the Alba cup and that win over ICT.

On the day, Dundee came from two goals down at half-time to beat Inverness 3-2 late on at McDiarmid Park.

But have you ever wondered what happened to the trophy winners that day?

Here we take a look at what has happened to the victorious Dark Blues half a decade on.

Rab Douglas

At 42, the big keeper is still going strong. He might have left Dens Park under a cloud 18 months back but Rab is still plying his trade with Forfar down in League One. And, according to those in the know, the veteran’s still commanding rave reviews.

Eric Paton

One of those who had his contract terminated in October 2010 due to administration, Paton signed for Stenhousemuir. On his return to Ochilview, he made more than 50 appearances but was released at 34 in early 2013.

Gary MacKenzie

At the end of the Challenge Cup-winning campaign, he penned a pre-contract agreement with English lower-league outfit MK Dons, signing for them in the summer of 2010. Some impressive displays in Milton Keynes saw him called into two Scotland squads by former Dundee United boss Craig Levein. Has since switched to Championship strugglers Blackpool.

Eddie Malone

The 29-year-old attacking full-back is currently without a club, having been released by Stenhousemuir before the start of this season. Let go by the Dark Blues the summer after the cup final win, he had trials with Morton and Berwick Rangers before winning a permanent deal at Ayr United. Moves to Raith and finally a stint with Stenny followed.

Jim Lauchlan

Following his release by Queen of the South, former Scotland U/21 international Lauchlan spent two years plying his trade at Dens, making 41 appearances. He took the short trip across the water to join
Irish side Sligo Rovers before ending up at Ayr United. Retired from pro game since 2011.

Craig Forsyth

Another who has made a success of life south of the border. An ever-present for Championship high-flyers Derby County, Forsyth, who scored Dundee’s winner against Inverness, was part of the Rams outfit beaten in the play-off final last season. Left Dens for Watford in July 2011, encompassing a loan at Bradford, before a £150,000 switch to Pride Park.

Brian Kerr

At 33, his professional playing days are over. Former Scotland international during his time at Newcastle United, by the time he got to Dens he was well on the way down. Midfielder was released with onset of admin 2 turning up at Arbroath.

Gary Harkins

In his third spell in dark blue, Harkins is a key cog in Paul Hartley’s Dundee side. Re-signed in the summer after being let go by St Mirren. Has represented Oldham Athletic, Dundee (again) and Kilmarnock since 2010.

Sean Higgins

Thirty-year-old frontman is still scoring goals in the second tier, this time for Cowdenbeath. Signed from Stenny as a replacement for Greg Stewart and Kane Hemmings. Since departing Dens, he’s never had a spell so prolific. Has spent time at St Johnstone, Ayr and Falkirk.

Richie Hart

Inverness-born midfielder was at Brora Rangers until the summer. The 36-year-old played one season with the Dark Blues before upping sticks to represent Hibernians (not that one) in Malta. His magical mystery tour took him then to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and Al-Ettifaq Club.

Leigh Griffiths

The talented striker is more akin to making front-page headlines than back-page ones, despite a move to Scottish giants Celtic from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 24-year-old left Dens for Molineux in a deal believed to be worth some £150,000 in 2011. In truth, though, he never settled in the West Midlands and ended up playing the best football of his career in hometown Leith for his beloved Hibs before Parkhead came calling.
