I watched them beat Ross County 3-1 at Cairdy and have to say how impressed I was with how they knocked the ball about. Good one touch play and movement. There were also a few 2009s involved who really looked the part.

That post is far too positive for this forum, please stop it.

The 2009s are from the academy at St John's. All those extra hours on the training field can only help their technique. Seemingly Tim Keyes pays for the St John's academy out of his own pocket.

I really liked the look of a couple of the 08s too.

Someone on here said that Dundee's academy compared to the Arab's was like night and day.

So a question for those in the know "what are the main differences and what needs to be done to fill the gap?"

I assumed the writer thought Dundee were behind the Arabs but I may be wrong in that assumption.

They are part of the elite programme and spend £750,000+ on youth development, partly funded by the SFA.

We spend much less but look to be doing well despite this.

We only have 2 youth scouts though which I don't think is enough.

There's 3 youth scouts and have a very good contact base.

The diffrence is the way the two academies train. Dundee work on a lot on ball retention and team build up where as at United they work on a lot individual skills. You can see the differences at every youth level and in most cases Dundee seem to have the stronger group of players.
