Conference League

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what DFC’s view is on the new Conference League proposals?

There’s been a lot of deserved backlash because it’s basically a vehicle to get Old Firm B teams as high as possible. A lot of clubs have announced they’re voting against at the SFA AGM tomorrow, but I don’t think I’ve see any public comment from us.

A social media and website were set up against this move.

It's nothing more than a setup to shoehorn some B teams into the league. They say at the moment that these teams cannot be promoted or relegated, but what is to stop them from changing this in the future?

Why not just go back to the bloody reserve leagues like we had years ago, and let the young lads play against some of the older guys and let them learn from there.

Better still, merge the leagues into two bigger ones to prevent a lot of teams yo-yoing and give other lower clubs a chance to earn some money with a chance at promotion.

I'd put "B" teams into the local junior leagues ..proper competitive teams would surely benefit young players coming through

Junior leagues is essentially now the senior non league pyramid where the B teams are

It's a very poorly thought-out attempt by the Old Firm, Hearts and their lackies in the SFA to shoehorn their B teams into a more preferable position than their already ridiculous bribing to play in the Lowland League, from which they could more easily attempt their neverending goal to get into the SPFL and ruin even more of Scottish football. All while relegating roughly 120 teams in the process for the benefit of 3.

Any ridiculous attempt to claim this will help the Scottish national team of all things is laughable, as players that high in potential have very little to gain from playing tier 5 part-timers half the season and fellow kids the other half. Reserve Leagues provide a solid level of competition with a mix of experienced pros and talented youngsters, and there's always simply loaning your players out!

Dundee often vote down this kind of nonsense so I'm not worried, but it's ridiculous that we're one day away from the vote and we have not yet declared our intentions to vote no. Hopefully it is forthcoming to remove any doubt, as we have absolutely nothing to gain from voting yes.

Maybe John is still having a debate with himself before making a decision.
