One of Palace's most famous wins was a 5-0 thrashing of Manchester United in 1972. Palace had two ex-Dees in their team that day. See if you can spot them. These are the goals. It was Don Rogers' show though. What a player!

(Edit: this should be in the General Football forum. Any mod should feel free to shift it.)

Well Iain Phillip was definitely one and although he didn't really feature in this I think the other would have been Charlie Cooke. You're right, Don Rodger was some player. I think he had also given great service to Swindon Town. There was also a lot of movement with players between Crystal Palace and Chelsea. One guy I remember who was a great servant was Steve Kember who went to Chelsea after a lot of years at Crystal Palace. I think also in that video was Alan Birchall (sp) who had arrived from Chelsea. Just after that, when I was about 17, I played for a while with Longforgan Amateurs. The first team kit was Dundee dark blue and white shorts and the second team kit, which was newer, was the strip Crystal Palace wore in that Video.

Yes, the other was Charlie Cooke. You can see him in the celebrations following the 2nd and 4th goals. Alan Birchenall had signed from Chelsea, but he'd already left Palace for Leicester. He was there for only a season. Bobby Tambling also moved from Chelsea at about the same time. Other Scottish players who were at Palace then were John Hughes (the original Yogi). who was prominent in the Man Utd game, and Willie Wallace. Both were signed from Celtic of course.

Here are longer highlights. Palace could have given United an even worse hiding.
