Aye, buildng a house from the foundation up usually works best.

Would much rather be hard to beat and have to sit through some 0-0 draws like midweek than be losing games 3-2 but being really exciting to watch. Good defences keep you up and that’s what we need. United finished 4th two seasons ago and only scored a goal or two more than we did when we finished bottom.

Having an excellent goalkeeper helped United to that finish, no doubt about that. Their supporters on the whole failed to recognise that and ended up thinking their team was much better than it was (normal DAB behviour). Cue the 7-0, 9-0 hidings etc.

Having Carson between the sticks looks like it will benefit us in a similar way although I firmly believe Doc's current and hopefully future recruitment will be a step up on the car crash that happened down the road

Can we develop and move forward with loans coming and going each window or do we need to have signed players that are ours. Loan players can be here for half or whole season but if all return it ripping up and starting again each year.

I have sat through a season of the latter and we got relegated that season. Some of the best football I've seen a Dundee team play was that season, the team included the two Poles , Dodds, Dragutin Rstic, my personal favourite was Stephen Frail at right back he was brilliant that season. However games we deserved to win we drew and games we deserved to draw we lost. Started with opening game against Motherwell at Dens,  near the end we miss an easy chance, then they go up the park and score, happened all to often that season. So hard to beat please.

Obviously it would be better to have more signed players in the team, but I am hopeful that next year some of our younger players will have developed to be regulars, I know Fin has surprised  some folk this year, but hopefully along with Josh and Lyall, starting some games and off the bench in others will aid their development for next year. I've also not given up hope for Max, starting every week for ICT will hopefully bring him back to his best, similarly with French at Morton.

Although Scylla had a good game defensively, I don't think he is a good on the ball as Fin, all our best passing movements seem to involve Fin this season, he also has a good understanding with Luke. I suppose it is horses for courses, as Fin played well against Celtic I would probably play Fin on Wednesday instead of Lyall and swap Rudden for Babayoko.

I think Scylla’s height gives him a wee edge.

So true, such a good side to watch going forward but some shocking defending in that season. Fond memories with nightmare endings.

I think this is the best defence we have had in many years.

One position we have been crying out for was a decent keeper. Especially one who would win us points, and Carson has already shown us that he was worth his weight in a transfer fee.

A solid keeper is your mainstay of your defence, and Carson fits that bill.

I wasn't sure about Shaughnessy when we signed him (Partly because I didn't know much about him), but he has proven to be a good signing and seems to be the heart of our defence.

I think another player who the fans doubted when he signed was Portales, he certainly has come in and proved himself a decent defender.

Hopefully we can get a settled midfield going forward and then sort out our attacking options, as our goal scoring is really letting us down.

I would rather watch us being hard to beat and getting points on the table, then watching us score goals and getting nothing from a game. Hopefully, we can start scoring more goals and being hard to beat at the same time.

Got to admit, I'm really pleased with the way TD has us playing on the park. We definitely look more like a Premiership team, and it will be good to see him build on this in the future.
