Does anyone else think that PH is planning a 4-3-3 system? A middle three of KT, McGowan and Low and

Loy, Hemmings and Stewart up front, with the full-backs providing width.

It's an option.

I think other formations are more likely though.

Whatever he chooses to go for as our "default" team shape next season, we need to be much more adaptable to how a game is going and how the opposition are playing I think.

We were far too predictable at times last year when turning inside and playing tippy tappy passes in congested areas all the time.

It led to us dominating possession, creating very little real goal scoring opportunities and in the worst cases losing the ball in dangerous areas which exposed our defence.

Whatever formation we go for, in my view we should be prioritising:

. Being far more direct from front to back at times

. Getting our forward players turned to face goal with a pass to run on to

. Defending crosses and set pieces

. Getting our own crosses into the oppositions box

. Getting our midfield players in to dangerous areas. They need to contribute more in terms of goals scored next season

We'll see in a months time in Kirkcaldy!

Always find this kind of thing a bit daft.

We will play the formation that best suits countering the team we play against.

All teams do this now. There isn't just one set formation.

Agree with you up to a point Abdul but if you cam get a system that works well and starts to produce the goods then I think the opposition is the one that needs to adjust. Would think this would be Hartley's mindset in the vast majority of games next season.

I just hope we can get some settled formations in place that the players can adapt too easily. And play with more width, absolutly screaming out for that in a good few games last season. A fit, settled starting 11 is a must need.

Agree with that definitely, at times last season we were far too congested against teams like St.Johnstone who pack the defence so there's no room to play through the middle, we need to have that out ball to the wing position for a plan B if we can't get through playing our way through.

I can't see the gaffer changing our style or formation to much next season, I think we just have players better suited to the roles ..

Agree with Abdul here as well, I recon we just need to adapt during games a bit better and defending crosses Has to be top of my c**t list watching us last season.

I hope Konrad has taken his medicine and realised there is no need to dive in when jockeying would do.. Hopefully they are all a bit more savvy to teams dirty handed sh*t!..

Something tells me we won't need to worry too much about going forwards, I think others teams will no enjoy playing against our forward line!.

I've read a lot of posts re possible formations but tbh I feel that somehow  we must find a place for a fit GGH --even watching the video of all Gregg Stewarts goals Harkins was involved in many of them-our creativity stopped when he got injured last season--and its no surprise that we didn't pick up many points when he wasn't in the side (the derby at Dens excluded!)

Very true.. But he has to get fitter than he was the last half of the season just past.
