Mathematically it can still be a while off but in reality, it's probably almost there.

In the last decade, 36 is usually the higher end of what teams will obtain and County as it is are on course for 29 points on their ppg.

If they drastically bettered their form, it would necessitate points from a lot of our bottom six rivals and would hit everyone.

If we're being safe, it's highly highly improbable 11th will exceed 38 which is 6 away.

When they meet next weekend a draw would be perfect for us.

Assuming we're talking about 11th, 36pts is the highest total in the last 10 years, so we need five more points from 13 games.... Nae bather. Probably finish with 46pts or so, depending which half we finish in.

Europe is a real possibility, assuming fifth place is enough, like last year, but don't fancy an 8-0 agg thrashing from Villa!

If, and it still is a very big if, we would have to go into it as positive as possible. The pinnacle for a team like Dundee or any Scottish team apart from Rangers/Celtic would be to get to the group stages. The money involved makes it worthwhile even game changing for a team like us to get there. Europe has changed so much in my lifetime. Had we beaten Milan in the Semi in 1963 we would have been in the final after playing only 4 teams. Same with the Fairs Cup a few seasons later. The competitions grew a bit but not much in the Aberdeen/Rangers/DABs time in the 70s/80s to reach a final but today is such a total difference as to be unrecognizable compared to those days. Fifth place would have us having to get past three teams to get to the group stages and it would all be in the luck of the draw. At least in the first round that fifth place would enter there is the chance of an Irish team of a lesser team from a smaller European country but as our representatives have found these can be very difficult games. The next round would be markedly more difficult and any Scottish team getting to the final qualifying round is guaranteed one of the best sides from the same competition of a bigger team dropping down from the Europa League.

If we qualify the bottom line is would we want to play a lucrative tie first against say a Newcastle or Tottenham or a biggish club from Germany e.g. or be 'lucky' in the draw and go out to the likes of teams that have beaten Motherwell, Aberdeen etc.? My heart says the smaller tie and the chance of progress my head the big money attractive tie. Thoughts??

All about the cash for me, a minnow could knock us out in the first game as we'd be going into Europe as a very inexperienced side. Would we be attractive enough to play a Tottenham or Newcastle in anything like full stadiums though?.  Unrealistic to expect us to qualify for the competition proper and whilst financially that'd be like winning the lottery our squad would be pushed to the extremes and probably see us underachieving in the bread and butter domestic stuff. A trip abroad to a smaller side and then a lucrative big game would satisfy most people I'd say.
