So what is being said is that at this stage in the proceedings the councillors not only have no impact on the application but don't even know which applications will be going forward to the planning meeting.

A bit different from the Celticesque paranoid postings about arab councillors stopping a meeting going ahead to prevent approval of Campy Nou. 🤔

The transport submissions need to be reviewed by Transport Scotland/Amey, so this could take a while yet. Planning will only consider the application when our submission has been fully considered by the appropriate National authorities.  So it's taking so long, not because of councillor affiliation,  but due process, which could only start after they received our submission. We have only submitted the information, so nobody to flog here. We need to be patient. I can't publish my councillor's reply because I haven't told him that I would do so, but it sounds right to me.

STV News online this afternoon has John Nelms stating that the stumbling block is Transport Scotland, and entry to and exit from the complex. Bottom line is we will remain at Dens for another 2 years.

There are clearly major transport issues to be overcome - was always likely to be the stumbling block. You would think by now the DBH transport consultants would have been able to provide the necessary info if it was possible . Surely that traffic management proposals should have been provided at the outset of the planning application not a year later Any application submitted currently will  be refused because of TS concerns -  DCC will not go against TS or will the Scottish Government if it is appealed.

Transport Scotland coming out with public criticism of DBH and their consultants over the access arrangements.

Simply the powers that be are terrified of upsetting a significant part of the population. Regardless of how this turns out they know a lot of people will be very cheesed off one way or the other. So the decline of the city rolls on because our city fathers have as much backbone as the common jellyfish. Inward investment in Dundee is suffering because decisions are in the hands of people who don’t even have the skill set to get the streets swept.

However, Transport Scotland hit back at Nelms’ comments.

In a scathing response, the agency claims Dee consultants have failed to address the issues raised and says it remains in talks with Dundee City Council over “the lack of clear and sustained progress” made by the club.

A spokesperson said: “For clarity, it is the developer’s responsibility to promote an access strategy that meets the needs of their proposed development, supported by a robust assessment of its impact on the local and trunk road network.

“Neither of the trunk road junction options proposed in recent months has been shown to be effective and the supporting traffic figures remain open to considerable uncertainty.

“It sits wholly with the developer and their consultants to settle these issues and present stakeholders with a coherent plan.

“We have repeatedly shown willingness to engage with the developer to address these issues, but they have yet to provide the information necessary that would allow us to give a definitive response to their proposals.

“We also remain in discussions with the local authority over the wider concerns about the lack of clear and sustained progress the developers and their consultants are making.”

I have no idea who's in the right or in the wrong, but I don't think Nelms or indeed, Transport Scotland have came out well with today's statements. Both seem rather petty.
