In a city with two professional football clubs it’s understandable that councillors or council officials do not want to be seen pushing a development that benefits one club .

Liverpool?

Everton paid a chunk of money when they found alternative funding for their new stadium. Previously the Liverpool council was going to borrow the money at a low rate and lend the money to Everton at a slightly higher rate

It fell through, and Liverpool had a bill for the financial advice to set the plan up.

I was merely asking what do you think we as fans should do. Misinterpretations of social media. Sorry if I appeared flippant.

You do realise they still keep their jobs as councillors even if not elected right

Nonsense. The next council elections are 2027, the voting system used with transferable voting will either re- elect them again or not. However Council officers will remain the same as they are directly employed and most often responsible for pushing a narrative despite what an elected councillor wishes.

That’s OK. My point was that with the Campy project seeming more and more unlikely the fans attention will inevitably turn to the circumstances which prevail in the aftermath. As for what the fans , individually or in groups , can actually do .The first stage would be to engage with FPS to clarify their intentions. Given J Nelms record in this regard that might be seen by many as a forlorn hope. I do not pretend to have the answers, but was simply suggesting that attention will inevitably turn to the reality post Campy. It has been a number of years since I was a member of DSA and took an active part in a fans organisation. Perhaps in the circumstances it is time to re engage and not expect others to do the work . Nonetheless, I believe that this unwanted scenario is unfolding and that the fans focus will have to turn to the potential crisis post FPS.

I think that there is no doubt that our struggle to get planning permission for the new stadium is coming to a conclusion. It’s terrible that you need to go to the barricades just to get the councils permission to invest £150m in our city.  I think we will have planning consent by the end of October, then things get interesting.
