We (DFC or DBPH) want to build something but we've got to go through a process and meet the requirements of the relevant bodies. Are we meeting those requirements?. From the outside looking in it looks like the stumbling block is over the access to the development from the Kingsway on match day but the stadium only has 100 spaces in the plans to accommodate players and officials. It seems like overkill but would anyone kibosh a reported £150m worth of investment over a slip lane for up to 100 vehicles?. For me there's got to be more to this and that someone isn't being entirely truthful. I've got to question what TS would have to gain from being less than open and honest because it's really no skin off their nose if this thing is built or not. Reasonable to question the criticisms of the approach being adopted by TS. Seems odd that 100 spaces are only being supplied, so On 24/08/2025 at 10:54, Reverend Lovejoy said: I think it's fair to offer TS a defence if they're doing little wrong. Reasonable to question why 100 spaces for stadium will cause such a difficulty when Gallagher Retail Park has 570 and is served by traffic lights. Why not change the status of the Kingsway from Swallow Roundabout to Fofar Road junctiont? Take thus bit out of the trunk road system. 1
dfcman Posted 25 August 2025 Posted 25 August 2025 There may be only 100 parking spaces for the Stadium but presumably the Hotel,Crem and private houses need the slip road .Or can they be accessed through the Ice Rink road?

The hotel, crem and private housing will have parking but they'll not all be looking to access the development site, directly from the west, at 3 O'clock on a Saturday afternoon. 1
Billy Campbell's Ghost Posted 25 August 2025 Posted 25 August 2025 I doubt funerals will be planned on match days after 13.00? Or not at all 1
Billy Campbell's Ghost Posted 27 August 2025 Posted 27 August 2025 My daughter was at Chappell Roan gig at Ingliston last night. Dunno size of crowd but 5-10k? Fans were walking along and crossing dual carriageway (A8) and all around the airport. She felt unsafe . How are events allowed in these places? At least our stadium is taking crowds etc into consideration. 1

Roads all at a stand still and cars parked on verges / in bus stops etc...

It evidence that our modern lifestyle produces congestion (normally short term) when large events take place in our towns and cities it’s unavoidable. It’s strange that a slip road that is only going to handle access for around 120 vehicles at peak times, is causing so much angst in the corridors of power at DCC and Transport Scotland. It’s a minor problem that needs to be solved yet it seems beyond the skills set of all the party’s involved. 2

TS are the authority and their skillset says a graded junction is recommended. The obstacle seems to be that another set of experts with the appropriate skillset disagrees on that point. No doubt DCC will go with the authority's opinion and will ask for the graded junction to be included. What seems lacking is that the club's representatives seem unable, or unwilling, to justify their preferred option to the satisfaction of the authority. I don't see what can be so difficult about that given that, as you say, it's only for access of 120 or so vehicles tops and even then it's generally running at that level at quieter traffic times. 1

My teenage daughter was at a gig on Friday night at Ingliston and didn't see, or have, any issues. There were 30, 000 there.

Surely it can't be much in terms of cost? EDIT It can also be called a grade-separated junction and is pretty much an overpass or underpass

The council need to take some responsibility here for suggesting the site over the Eden project site?!

EDIT It can also be called a grade-separated junction and is pretty much an overpass or underpass It's the slope up to assist with braking before turning and a slope down to assist vehicles to reach the same speed as traffic on the road before merging that TS are recommending I believe rather than a full flyover / underpass arrangement. Completely unnecessary to my thinking because it's only a 50mph road and there are no gradients onto or off of the roundabouts and traffic lights that currently exist on the road and which traffic seems to have no trouble negotiating.
