Despite all the chat about John McGinn, we don't actually have a place for him on the forum. Papers this morning suggesting Hearts and Hibs want him, not costing much in compo apparently.

Dundee,

Wigan,

Rotherham,

Hearts,

Hibs

So far ....

Paper says £270k in compo - a lot for the Dees but not for the two English clubs or Hearts with their never ending income stream from fan memberships every month.

£270k is way out of our price range IMO. If we were to spend that amount of money on a player I'd be worried. If we were going to though, I'm not sure I would want to spend it on another centre midfielder.

I agree an-dee, As ambitious as we are all for our club, it's a lot of money to through around.

Cautious, slow, and steady, progress, seems to me, to be the way to go at this time for DFC.

Could be money well spent for any club. He signs for say hearts and helps them get top 6 and plays a good role in that then they have clubs in England willing to pay up to 4 times there fee. Gamble yes, but maybe not overly an expensive one.

If we pay that, I worry about the future of the club. Ridiculous investment even if calculated at this stage as there are a 100 different things that money can be spent on to make us more secure in the long term. Total non-starter.

He didn't have a great season for St Mirren! Has potential, but is potential worth that kind of cash for a club like ours? In my opinion, it'd have to be a definite no.

You have to ask how even Hearts and Hibs could afford him at that price £250k. Hearts who are trying to self sustainable, soon to be fans owned. Ann Budge is there just to get the foundations in place.

'Fans owned' - gives me a shiver every time I read or hear the expression. I wonder if they are using the Dundee FC model when setting up their club.
