A is for Ancell. After two spells as a player, Bobby Ancell returned to Dens as manager in 1965 to replace the legendary Bob Shankly. Ancell took Dundee to Hampden to face reigning European champions Celtic, where the Dee lost an epic game 5-3. The following season, Dundee reached the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup semi-final and narrowly lost to Don Revie's famous Leeds side over two legs. Shortly after, Ancell stepped down, having spent three years in the post. His highest league finish was sixth.

A is for Anderson.

George Anderson was the manager that after getting us promoted from the B Division with a rebuilding job won us back to back League Cups (first club in Scotland to do so). A top flight runners up spot and a Scottish Cup final.

Signed Billy Steel also and crowds of 30,000 to 43,000 would roll up at Dens to see his teams, not to mention a record breaking 136,000 for the Scottish Cup final v Motherwell at Hampden.
