Is this a real business degree?

Is the Johan Cruyff Institute for Sport Studies really a university accredited to award degrees?

How much standing would this degree have in the real business world?

I've had a quick look into this and can't find any designation for this degree i.e. BSc / MSc. - just says degree. I note the study duration is 8 months, my post graduate MSc was 2 and a half years.

Sounds more like a professional qualification / diploma than an academic degree.

Call me old fashioned but a lot of people work hard for genuine academic qualifications; it annoys me when people claim to have degrees that are awarded by attendance or as honorary presentations (not saying that's definitely the case here by the way).

I agree with Deeranged, my cousin just graduated last week after 4 years of studying with honours degree. He worked hard for that. I'd say this is more an diploma rather than university degree. Still well done though to the man.

Absolutely well done to him, any educational or professional qualification gained by anyone deserves congratulation.

Looked furher and it says 'Masters Degree' neither MA nor MSc though. Reminds me of the CVs I used to bin from people with honours degrees from the Kathmandu Institute of Advanced Technology and the like.

Yeah even if it doesn't benefit the club, I'm not sure we should be criticising him for what he wants to do in his spare time. He's clearly went into it with the idea of doing it to help the club in some way - so hats off to him for that regardless of its actual merits. There's no harm to the club either way whilst there is potential benefits.

Steve stumped up out of his own pocket to fund this course hopefully for the benefit of DFC.I couldn't care less what it's called if it's going to benefit the club.

I funded part of my MSc myself, the company I was working for at the time funded the rest.

Did I do it for the benefit of the company? No chance, I got the degree and bailed to a better paid job. It's business, there's no sentiment.

Not criticising Steve at all. Just not sure if this institute can award valid degrees.

The qualification is what it is - but is it really a Masters as we know and generally accept it?

Deeranged maybe you should drop him an email an ask. Fair play to him for doing it, definitwly beneficial for the club. Regardless of it's apparent validity or his motive for doing it, as some have questioned (deeranged again)
