Sebastian Lochead interview

Talks about overcoming struggles in football, his thanks to the coaches and experience in the first team.

He gets emotional at the end and emphasised how much the academy helped him. He said he hopes his first loan move is Dundee and he said he wants to return at some point.

I'm excited to see the lads in the u16s come through. With a bit of luck they can be as good as the team which produced Lyall, Josh and Finn.

Im not understanding, why are we letting bright young talent like Lochhead leave the club?. 300k coukd be short change for this lad if he keeps progressing. Are we as fans not privvy as to why it was necessary to take 300k for him?. Surely we should be nurturing these guys and cashing in on them after blooding them into first team regulars?.

Fair point that maybe our local journos should be asking as they have the platform that we dont

I just watched an interview with Seb on YouTube. Listening to him it makes you proud of the club and the work the academy is doing, he is a very grounded young man. He deserves every success.

It would have been a decision that would have been very tough for Lochead. At 16years old it’s tough to break into the first team especially as a CB at Dundee

Reasons to stay would be that’s he 16 and close to family, playing at a club where you have overcome setbacks and confident in their playing style as part of a first team. He’s familiar with the first team players and has a good relationship with the first team players and Docherty who rates him highly. He’s allowed to train with the first team and get top coaching and experience on the bench. I doubt he’d even ever go on loan. Seb could have trained with first team and played development games. He could have followed the Lennon Miller route.

The money at Wolves will be great for a 16 year old. Hamilton, Aberdeen, Partick and a few other teams have lost top talent to down south. It’s financial security. He will be playing U18 football which will be a good standard but I’m not convinced it’s the right path. He’s mentioned he’s lost form lots of time so he must have picked Wolves from the many options as he sees it as environment he can shine.

If I was him I would have stayed but financially it’s lucrative to go down south at a young age. He’s a talk at a young age so I don’t think it would have been long until we seen him in the first team.

Tough choice for him. Each choice has its benefits.
