What Do You Use Your Computer/internet For ?

Once all you young ones are finished using the above, for stuff on TDB forum, and your wee bit dabbling into the "naughty sites" ..... what else do you use your computer for ?

You will be aware I'm sure, I am very limited, in what I can do in this area. But I hate to thnk I am missing oot on some basic stuff

I am no looking for some free lessons, or suggestions. More just a case o' idle curiosity. If your PC broke doon, whit wid ye miss ?

I did surprise myself last week, when a bug/malware got into my computer system, which created total havoc with everything on computer, including my emails

With the help o, persistence and determination and some tips fae the forum here (and a good manual)  .....eh soarted it mehsel

Noo eh've soarted it, it has become awfy obvious, I am using aboot 1% o it.

I am sure others are doing much better than me ..... or maybe no ?

On any given day mine will be used for:

Book Writing

Image Creation/Manipulation

Music / Voice Recording

Promotional Use

Radio Broadcasting

Social Media

Emails

Amusing Children

Streaming Server

and the tiniest bit of Gaming (Usually modded-minecraft!)

Emails, booking restaurants, hotels, trains, tickets of all sorts, applying for jobs, buying stuff, route planning, gathering information about places I'm visiting, gambling, getting telephone numbers and addresses, forums, naughty sites , photographs, football results and information to name a few

Strange thing , I can get Dee Mad on my work Laptop but not this site !!! it is blocked as a "Restricted Site" along with Pus Book and YouTube.

I think you've covered it Gedee. 

If pushed, emails, a couple of other forums/football sites, banking/bills, evil Amazon (drunk Amazoning should be discouraged though) and even occasionally the official site.  Also finding out random stuff like I saw a van that just said 'Gurney May' the other day so I googled it and found out it was a building company. I've got waaaaaay too much time on my hands.

Computer ???? Nah !....it's an I pad for me, looks like I'm more advanced than the rest of you. Gradually I have been able to learn a bit more about using it but mostly the same sites,...TDB, ...web cam at loch of the lowes to check on the Ospreys ( love that kind of stuff) banking,news Amazon...there is nothing you can't get there. I tend to trawl through different sites so much so that I have stopped watching TV as much...can't be bothered with it. Apart from someone standing over you showing you how to do things...trial and error is the best way (all the young lads on this forum must be holding their sides laughing at us older boys admission of how crap some of us are ) .

Hello again Janny ....pretty much agree with awe you say there in yir post. And every wee step, is a step forward to something new.

It opens up a whole new world, even for, (or maybe, especially for) ... me ..... of the aulder generation. I should still make more use of it though.

Although meh computer skills are limited, and the memory disnae retain, or remember, as weel as I'd like, we would be hard pressed to do withoot it

A week or two ago my computer did get seriously affected with some malware/virus/bug, that caused problems right through the computer.

No only slowing thing down to a crawl, but totally affected my emails (crashed/vanished) I wis like a doag wi' a bone wi it, but got it sorted.

I do not use my computer for personal banking. But that said I do use it for paypal, ebay, amazon ....so on that basis it was very worrying.

But on a general level ...... I think computers are braw

Seeing as we are on about the Internet,a couple of weeks ago I received a message on Facebook from a lassie whose name I didn't recognise,after a wee bit of fact finding....turns out she was my next door neighbour who I last spoke to 38 years ago........and here's the strange bit.....SHE'S WORKING AS A JANNY.....in Fife........great thing the Internet.

Hi Gedee ,you're probably right that it's no for every one, I have only twenty odd folk on my page which is no many at all,you have to be special tae be allowed onto my page. Even had to bump my sister cause I could'nt stand her going on about her dugs every fecking post.Workmate requested me as a "friend" as well but ignored him as well .....cars ,investments and making money were his fun topics. If it's no fitba or light hearted stuff ,I'm no interested....that's the way to use Facebook...no serious stuff.
