Barry Smith

Unfortunately missed the Killie game due to being on holiday in Hampshire. As a consolation decided to take in Barry Smith's Aldershot's last pre-season friendly, against Wycombe Wanderers (1-1). Tidy wee ground that holds about 7000 or so.

Contacted them the day before and was invited to meet Barry in his office prior to the game. Barry also fixed me up with a seat in the Directors' Box and access to the sponsors' lounge.

Had an excellent half hour chat with the Dens legend, mainly about Dundee. He's obviously still got a soft spot for the club and was really interested in the little gossip I had.

He still lives in Dundee, for the time being anyway, and was travelling back straight after the match.

Really nice guy and I wish him and his club well.

After about an hour of the match it was announced that number 22 for Wycombe (Stephen McGinn) was being substituted. Have to say I didn't even notice he was on! 2-year contract as well!
