I' m sure all the other Good DFC Members will be happy for me to welcome you on their behalf as well ...... it's that kind of site !!

For me your points on dab-free and civil are very important, and although all that the new site encourages a range of open discussion, there is a strong emphasis that it will remain the way we all like it .............keeping "the ither side" oot wir back yerd is a good place to start !!

I agree with your sentiment.  In principle, it should work. But does it ever ?           But I think I know where you are coming from.

I am only basing views here  on the past experience of mad forum. Occasionally there was some posters came on from the other side.

Some were obviously out to cause as much trouble as they could ...... and would have been better ignored. Others, as you will know better than me came in under the mantle of peace ..... and whether accepted or not, their ultimate aim, was to stir it, and dish out the dirt, and take pleasure in causing more trouble and in-fighting. Some dabs who could be trusted and offered reasonable opinions were attacked anyway, because of what they were.

I think what concerned me as much however was new posters whose first post had hardly arrived in the forum .... immediately being accused of obviously being a dab. And on that basis (usually unfounded) they never bothered coming back to the forum.

This is only an opinion, but on balance the policy here of no dabs has to be the way to go, I think. If it was just banter it would probably be fine. But how long could it/would it stay that way ?    I certainly would not like to be in the Admins/ Mods in trying to decide if each new poster was true dark blue.

I gave Mad a big swerve but was more into P & B so it was more of a free for all. The reason I said "in principle" was because I don't mind having a rational conversation with anyone about football (or anything) but the "in reality" bit kicks in when people are sat at keyboards where if you feel like it you can be a pr**k for no reason with no repercussions (like a sair pus). I think what we've got here is great, for me personally its what P & B was missing, a wee scoosh of 'etiquette' to stop things deteriorating into name calling and point scoring, the only downside is when we're all singing off the same hymn sheet it can become a bit of a 'circle w**k' but its better than the alternative (for me anyway). I'm loving our new home to be honest.
