With the acknowledgement that we've started contract discussions with our out of contract players (all of our out of contract players listed below) and some names like Partick Thistle's Ben Stanway being heavily linked thought I'd get the thread up and running early.

Looks like we'll need a minimum of 1 keeper - potentially 2 if McCracken leaves. Calum Ferrie has worked with our goalkeeping coach before and was considered the best in the Championship so could be someone we look at although I'm not sure that'd go down majorly well.

#1: Jon McCracken

#13: Kieran O'Hara

#31: Trevor Carson

#2: Ethan Ingram

#3: Clark Robertson

#4: Ryan Astley

#14: Lewis Montsma

#20: Billy Koumetio  - Option of further year.

#17: Tony Yogane - Loan deal expires.

#18: Charlie Reilly

#20: Cameron Congreve - Loan deal expires.

#21: Yan Dhanda - Loan deal expires.

#24: Joel Cotterill - Loan deal expires.

#25: Scott Wright - Loan deal expires.

#38: Aldahir Valuenzuela - Loan deal expires (Pressley already talked about potentially extending this deal for next season)

Astley and Billy we should keep. All 3 goalies I could take or leave. Ingram and Clark R can leave. Montsma I’ve never seen. Yogane and Congreve would love to get back but sadly doubt it. Cotterill and Wright I don’t think are worth a permanent deal. Dhanda keep if we can afford him but don’t push the boat out.
Reilly I don’t know. Maybe time to cut our losses but he does show it sometimes.

Astley should certainly be offered a new deal but I suspect will have better options, likewise Koumetio and although Dundee have an option on his contract the problem with enforcing such a clause is that you end up with an unhappy player who has better offers elsewhere. I wouldn’t necessarily differentiate between any of the loan players as they are all more than likely beyond Dundee’s financial reach. Yogane , Congreve and Cotterill are younger and their parent clubs will have their own plan as to their continued development . Dhanda is surplus to requirements at Hearts but would still command a significant fee ( he is contracted to Hearts until 2027) and wages . Wright is also in a wage bracket that is too rich for Dundee but the main deciding factor as to his future will be his fitness . It does appear, however, that Birmingham are still committed to retaining and physically rehabilitating the player. C Robertson and Ingram I would agree are almost certain to go .Reilly? Depends entirely on Pressley’s opinion since I don’t imagine the player will have many better alternatives to Dundee. Montsma is a mystery to all except the Manager and staff at Dundee and is therefore in the same boat. O’Hara likewise , Sharp’s loan to Montrose has not gone well , he’ll be off and McCracken will have offers and if those are at EFL Championship level as has been suggested then a move South is a no brainer for the player. The retention on loan of Valenzuela has been hinted at by Pressley but with Murray , Hay and Westley already vying for the lone striker role this seems unlikely. This might change if Murray is sold or allowed to leave which is a scenario more conceivable now than it was at the start of the season , but the whole Mexican connection is questionable , not just because of the difficulty in integrating and mentoring young foreign players , but because of the nature of Mexican football which has a very insular and financially self contained structure in which young players do struggle to get first team opportunities at their own clubs whilst at the same time being on very lucrative contracts. I have largely agreed with Pressley’s assessments and actions since his appointment, the one point on which I really question his judgement is with his stated aim of building a team and ending the cycle of continual rebuilds every close season . The large annual turnover of players is now part and parcel of life as a medium sized Scottish club and I’m sure , despite his optimism, Pressley fundamentally realises this. All of the above will be rendered entirely moot if relegation makes its regular visit to Dens Park.

Asked a Montrose fan what they thought of Harry Sharp on P&B. The response was rather scathing:

Very lucky to get a game.  The sooner Gill is available the better.  Sharp's handling is ok.  Kicking poor and concentration is dreadful.  It's hard to believe he is a full time player.  I don't think he will be after his current contract ends.  He's not really good enough, on current showings, for League 1.  He has a lot to improve on.  Whether he can I do not know.

We are going to need new keepers.  At  very least two, likley three, if three is where we have to be.

Appreciate your Post Ludo ... As you point out though...."scathing"

(For Harry Sharp's sake hope other Montrose fans are less critical)

Putting that aside, I hope DFC, are currenty active in their search for,

replacement players for key positions. Keepers are in that category.

Astley buying up property here and according to the person that helps him with mortgages he’s been offered a deal and looking to buy a house here for himself.

Lots of chat about Graham moving to bigger club and club getting a good fee. Astley is not far off. The unsung part of our defence, just gets on with it.

Astley and Koumetio as our first choice pair next season is a good place to start!

Another Rangers scouting mission on Luke being reported today.

Luke Graham and Dundee are not going to be short of options this summer. The Scotland under-21 defender has been an absolute standout this season. You can see why clubs in England, the MLS and Europe are all interested.
