and Hot Rod amongst others, I think Ali G is still sawing her in half the lucky fecker.

Remember him climbing the ladder up into the Derry TV gantry many times before KO, often getting a cheer as he ascended. Top commentator at the time and Scotsport really was the only place to get your football fix in those days. Thanks for the memories, Arthur.

Nae sign of his outrageous suit jackets though, that used to f*ck with the vertical hold of your new colour TV.

Always fair and neutral except when it came to Scotland.

Scotland vs Czechoslovakia WCQ Hampden 1973 - during the commentary he screams "Watch your back Billy!"  as Billy Bremner is about to be tackled.

Arthur was certainly a one off.

Remember writing to him once urging him to resign! He was commentating on a Celtic-Stenhousemuir game and at the end he inexplicably called them Arbroath!

He took it in good spirit though and even replied, promising to try to do better next time.

Will always remember his commentary of  the Scotland v Wales game at Anfield......

Yes Arthur was one of a rare breed, or certainly rare these days and will be sadly missed.
