Collum is no worse than 90% of the fools who have refereed at our games this season and last.

Is he an incompetent referee - Yes

Is he deserving of this award more than Thomson, Madden etc - No.

Hearts are certainly on the way to becoming another 'always cheated, never defeated side'

It is time that supporters like the Hearts fans stand up and put pressure on the SFA to take action. Referees such Willie Collum are well paid yet their performances each week go from bad to worse. A 6 month suspension from all SPFL and European games for Collum might just have the desired effect.

You will be telling me next that Andrew Dallas had first class performance at Dens last Saturday and did not make any refereeing mistakes.

He was useless and I was there to see it. No wonder I was still hoarse when I got back to Islay last Monday (31st August).

So we should ban Collum for six months because he sent a player off for making a dangerous challenge? That doesn't make a lot of sense because referees are being told to clamp down on these kind of tackles. The Hamilton player was hit so hard by Paterson that he did a somersault.

I was absolutely livid over the Pawlett dive at Dens that sent us down but generally I don't get worked up over the officials. They do the best they can without video technology and they often get it wrong. We just need to deal with the breaks and get on with it.

To be fair Cobra, on first viewing I thought it was a horror tackle and he deserved the red card. But when I looked again, it's almost as though he falls into him. His studs aren't high he doesn't appear to be over the top of the ball either. I just shows you though, that at a glance and in real time, it's almost impossible for referees to get every decision right. What annoys me about certain referees, though, are the inconsistencies. Dallas on Saturday was letting challenges go that were obvious free-kicks and then stopping the game when advantages could be played!

The petition is a bit of a minter though. We all know the referees in Scotland are poor in general, but they're poor for everyone.

The Scottish referees are not poor for everyone.

They are certainly not poor for the Old Firm.

Scottish Cup semi-final last season...the most obvious hand ball and red card you're likely to see not given for Celtic.

Yes, the Old Firm (especially at home) may be given favourable treatment as a result of crowd pressure, but they've both been on the end of some howlers too!

All of this, of course, just bolsters the need for camera decisions.

The game (and people's livelihoods) rely on it too much.

Completely agree with this. The pace of the game has become so fast that the referees need the assistance!

I've banged this drum for a while but I don't know why the Ref can't revue any filmed footage, whether its TV or club (DeeTV or whatever we're calling it). Either that evening or the next day, let the Ref (or the 4th official or both to compare notes) have a look from the different view points and either issue or retract cards. Its not going to change results or sending off's on the day but if you've got players who cheat they can retrospectively be carded (or have them rescinded), if it makes managers stop their players from cheating because they're unavailable to play its got to make the whole spectacle better for us fans.

I'd even issue the linesman with the sprays to dictate where the throws have to be taken from,  and as for the players badgering the Refs, maybe issuing the Ref with pepper spray is a bit on the extreme side but something has to be done, the Ref can't and won't change his mind once he's blown the whistle, the players have to accept this.

Its all very well slagging the Ref off, mistakes will always be made but the players don't exactly make things easy for them either.
