I'm surprised he's still alive. According to his partner he starts drinking cider at 6.30 in the morning, goes to bed drunk at 10am, get up again at 2pm and start drinking again.

Very sad when addiction takes hold of someone's life to such an extent.

I think quite a lot of footballers struggle to adapt to life after retirement. Paul Merson and Tony Adams managed to overcome their demons but it looks like Milne never has. If you get to your mid-50s and your drinking is still wildly out of control, I really don't think there's much chance you're going to turn things around.

I had a terminal liver cancer, not through booze, dengue heamorragic fever, and terminal liver disease is awfull. I got lucky and got a transplant, doubt if Ralph will. Such a shame.

Whatever we thought of him he was a proper futba player, born and bred in Dundee. Alcoholism isn't a choice, nobody knows what leads some people down that path and to addiction. RIP.

While I don't agree that addiction is an illness (which many claim it is), folk have it in their genes and it's very hard to overcome. RIP.
