Paul Hartley Pleased With Dundee Fightback

Dundee manager Paul Hartley was delighted with the reaction from his side against Ross County but was adamant his side should have been awarded a second penalty.

After a 6-0 humbling at Celtic the previous weekend, the Dens Park gaffer was looking for a response from his side but found his team on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline at half-time. And for Hartley it was pleasing to see his side show their character by coming back to share the points with a good second-half display.
He said: “We played well in the first half but we lost bad goals. “I think when you get in at half-time and you’re 3-1 down you’ve got to try to get back into the game and I said that to the players. It was constructive to say ‘look, we’re still in this, a goal can change it’ but we needed a good reaction from the players and we certainly got that.

“I thought we played well, we had some good chances and the players pressed well and worked hard, caused them problems but then all of a sudden we’re 3-1 down. But they showed in the second half what they’re about and we played some good football, I was pleased with that.â€

Then with the match level at 3-3 and Dundee pushing for a winner with 15 minutes left on the clock, Stewart tumbled in the County area and for Paul it was a stick-on penalty.

He added: “It’s a stonewall penalty. The ref should book Stewart if he thinks it’s a dive. We’ve seen it, it’s a penalty-kick and Greg is honest also. He’s caught him, so we’re disappointed with that but we had good chances to win the game. But, if you look at it at half-time, you’re 3-1 down, you ask can we get back in the game, can we show a little bit of desire? The players certainly showed that.â€
