We need to have some discussion about the future. It's been discussed a lot but this time it looks as though the current board really do need help. There isn't any question of hanging onto "Blazers", it seems like it's time for the members to think about the role that will best suit the reality that FPS call the shots. DFCSS do appoint one director and are consulted on the appointment of another.

There might be skill sets needed to help anyone who wants to help.IMO, A fans rep is a really difficult, almost impossible, role to fulfil, but there are bound to be Dees who know something about representing people and how to act in such a position.

It's a good statement as well.. Time for a fresh start?

Agreed Boba.

I think that's the most realistic statement from DFCSS in quite some time. Maybe there's finally a realisation of what the role is becoming.

However I think there's a real possibility that there will be more spots on the board (DFCSS I mean) than there will be nominations to fill them.

I think for many the whole organisation has become so tainted by past exploits and statements that there'll hardly be a queue of folk desperate to put their names and faces out there.

I may offer to help. Dedicating time is hard tho. I helped Ross, Peter and Colin and it is not easy. Took us tens of hours to fill and seal envelopes to send out to to find out we needed to even talk to anymore.

Old DFCSS were a disaster. Guys like Ross saved the society.

That really is down to peoples perceptions, the club have treated the fans really poorly at times over the years yet us chimps will still go back. The Society are on a hiding to nothing a lot of the time, they're never going to please all fans all the time and for whatever reason because its boys like 'us' they get it tighter than some bloody charlatan who's buggered up the club and run off with our money (or worse).

I don't know why anyone would toss their hat in the ring for a Soc. position, I know guys who have and I take my hat off to them. Our fan base don't exactly make it easy for them a lot of the time with the constant criticism of pretty much anything and everything they try and do. As long as 'we' assume they're just in it for the blazer or some other crap like that then they will never be given the chance to do their jobs.

Lets vote them in (whoever 'they' are) and let them do their jobs, if they're crap, vote them out but the more we b***h and whine about them the less likely we are to get good people who are willing to do the jobs, we'll only be left with people who are either enthusiastic amateurs or (I'm cringing as I say this its such a cliche) the 'blazer chasers'. If we look at the Soc. as flawed but trying their best then lets get behind them instead of tearing down everything they try to do, they've got a cobbled together, flawed and not fit for purpose constitution from what I know of it and that needs to be changed but it won't be easy to do, it was set up to try and stop a hostile take over after admin. I genuinely hope that they progress and the fans give them breathing space to get both a new way ahead and for them to sort out their constitution. I'm not hopeful though, it's easier to shout from the cheap seats.  :(

Well said Chomp. You have to be extremely thick skinned to put up with some of the nonsense that is thrown at you when you join the society board from what I've read, particularly from those with no intention of helping out. Constructive criticism when you know all the facts is fine but some comments have been bizzare, targetted at fellow fans giving up their time to try and help the club.

Point I was trying to make that this does seem to be the time for change and there is no "vested interest" trying to hold on to power or preserve status. We are where we are and the society needs help from the members to find a way forward.

Decent sized write up in the early Tele today.

Davie Forbes is encouraging us to step up to the plate and make our voices heard even though the club is looking in good shape..

A really good post there Chomp. Not sure there's much to add to be honest.

Usual poor reporting by DCT.

Nominations open tomorrow not 20th October.

Mate do you know if there will be any kind of 'manifestos' or the like put out by candidates ? It might be useful for us lay members who don't know the guys who are standing or which direction they see the Soc. going in. It might be a way of encouraging interest in both the Society as a whole and how it intends to go in the future.
