James Mcpake

Just read Julen in the Record praising James for helping him and supporting him on and off the park. That's Julen and Gowser both saying the same thing.

I don't know about his coaching ability but if his man-management is anything to go by I think he'd be a welcome addition to the backroom staff once he hangs his boots up.

These boys are worth their weight in gold in the dressing room. You need winners and leaders in there, which is something I think we've lacked over the years.

Mind hearing from someone that Noel Blake used to take the younger lads like McCann etc aside after training and do weights sessions etc with them. Great for player development and team spirit.

Can understand why Mcpake gets praise for his blood n thunder style / commitment

On a playing level id hope this is his last season - Jules n new centre half for me next season , Mcpake is a bombscare generally speaking imo but he`ll make up for it with a hefty challenge which gets fans (myself inc) fired up.

For me Jules is the stand out centre half , great potential.

Dont wanna sound to harsh on Mcpake cos his attitude , commitment  are second to none but i just think he make big mistakes

Mcpake has another year on his contract.

I would like to see us strengthen central defence certainly in time for next season.

Konrad, gadz and meggatt could be improved upon imo. Hopefully matty allan steps up. Obviously it's a big jump in standard from division 2 however he's decent in the air, has pace and can pass the ball.

Slightly unfair on Meggat Wattie.. He's a LB and he's never really had a chance.

I love McPake's attitude. If he can install that in his team mates, then he's worth his weight in gold.

As for stand out CB's, I honestly don't think we have one. I think we have three decent central defenders who all have glaring deficiencies, as well as a few strengths.

I thought Meggat looked solid when he came on against St Johnstone. O'Halloran needed shackled and he did that when Holt couldn't. Not exactly cultured, but effective. He's no CB though, while Gadz is pretty awful in my opinion.
