Our Main Problem Just Now

The amount of goals conceded, pure and simple.

We have had 2 clean sheets in 13 competitive games.

We have let in the 2nd most goals in the league joint with Killie and are only kept off the bottom spot on goals conceded by a team on a minus 17 goal difference.

We have good forwards and goals in our team but are severely denting our chances of getting something out of games when we are letting in an average of 2 goals a game.

It has cost us our place in the League Cup and it's the reason why we sit 7th not 4th or 5th in a very tight league.

Unfortunately, I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Holt is getting done on the left. We are conceding headers for fun as we can't stop crosses in to our box or deal with them when they come in (seems to have been a problem for well over a year as we were having the same conversation last season).

Tighten up at the back, win some headers and stop more crosses coming in and we will concede less goals and improve our chances of picking up more points.

Nail on head.....the amount of crosses that come into our box is criminal.

Heard the guy on BBC say to Hartley after the Killie game that he was surprised because "they are just not the sort of goals Dundee concede". Baffling comment. Couldn't understand why he thought that at all. We lose cross ball goals every single week!

Play at centre back myself and there is nothing worse than not having a settled back 4. The key to a good defence is having a good understanding with each other and that takes a run of games before you get that. Some of the changes this season have been forced but some have been optional. Hartley needs to decide his best back 4 and stick with them.

I can only assume we lose so many goals from cross balls cause we are told to push attackers out wide.

The problem is we don't have the defenders to deal with the resulting balls into the box.
