Dundee Dealt Double Blow Ahead Of Inverness Clash

Recommended Posts

Dundee suffered a double blow today with news Kevin Thomson and James McPake will miss tomorrow’s game against Inverness Caley Thistle.

Club captain Thomson had been absent from Paul Hartley’s starting XI since he suffered a knee injury in the 2-1 home win over Motherwell back on October 3.

But this week, after close to a month on the treatment table, the experienced midfield man returned to full first-team training.

However, it has been decided tomorrow’s game in the Highlands will come too soon and he won’t be risked.

Adding to manager Paul Hartley’s troubles is the fact McPake will also miss out.

The experienced defender injured a groin in training and will be sent for a scan to assess the damage.

So we are down to Konrad, Ghadz and Meggat as centre backs :(

McPakes could be a sore one if he has gone for a scan.  Whoever said on here that Holt could find himself playing at CB could win themselves a watch in the coming weeks.

As an aside, who would be in line to skipper the side in the absence of KT, JMcP, GH and TWC?  My vote is for McGowan.  Not many candidates.

There really has to be a way of improving this on-going injury saga.

Is it all down to our signing of "Old Crocs" .... .as Gnasher puts it?

Is our medical team, fitness guys, coaching squad, up to scratch?

As well as the obvious problem of not having fit players on results,

it canae be good for the morale of the DFC players, or supporters.

Are we the worst club with the high number of injury-prone players?

I never expected Thomson to be fit for this game anyway. Just pleased to see him back in training after that shocking tackle.

McPake and Julen being out isn't great but we have decent alternatives capable of giving us a performance.

ICT have lost their last three scoring only one goal in the process. We've got plenty players able to hurt them. I've got a feeling we might nick the points and keep their miserable run going.

Surely if Thomson has been training all week he'll be able to play FFS, if not step forward el capitano Gowser.

McPake's starting to give Thomson a run for his money on the treatment table. Never heard of a big strapping centrehalf being out with a sore jaw that wasn't broken before.
